2020.09.23 07:45 habibi8454OVERTHROW EVERYONE FROM ALL 3 BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT
I love the USA 🇺🇸. But, these clowns in government that do nothing but make the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. They oppress the poor by letting corporations enslave them to constantly work and not be paid a fair wage in which it would help the working class to financially grow and succeed in life. I’m sick and tired of seeing memes on Instagram about people being broke. Majority of the people are working many hours just to cover their bills and expenses and they still end up negative and in debt. Even with the coronavirus, the poor are risking their lives to go out and work to bring food to the table and pay bills just so they can be under a roof. That’s one of the contributing factors to why America is the top nation in the world with so many COVID cases. I can’t believe we Americans only got a one time $1200 check while many developed nations care for their citizen’s wellbeing by giving them 2-3k a month. There’s so many things I could say but I’m just saying what I’m seeing. People are oppressed and depressed. Something really has to be done since the clowns in government aren’t doing a damn thing. And I also wanted to add that, everybody is blaming the damn president for every single fucking thing that’s wrong with this country. But they don’t realize its other people in different branches in government. They don’t realize there are members in congress that have been serving for 30-40-50 years!! There’s no term limits, and they also make tons of money from “endorsements” from corporations. Something really has to be done. These assholes are only serving for their own self interests. Everybody getting broke, because there are no more laws protecting the poor. The government has also made people really stupid. Every year generations of teens will get the opportunity to vote and a majority of young people doesn’t even know how the government work. What they only think is the president is 100% running the country and that voting for him/her would solve every issues in the country. Or some would just “vote” for the same president because of peer pressure. A lot of votes will end up in the wrong hands and will put some assholes in office.
2020.09.21 21:49 clairepetil25 [F4R] Anywhere - Chaotic neutral dumbass looking for friends/friend to laugh with!
Hey my name is not claire, I have a fruit name though. I'll tell you what it is when we get closer or if you have a fruit name too 🍊. So umm first off I'm french, so bread is 40% of my personnality. I'm a bi, vegan, intersectional feminist and I'm looking for like-minded people. I'm saying trans rights and BLM right now 🌈. I like to say I'm an artist because I draw sometimes, I like to laugh 95% of the day and sometimes I play games. I'm at a weird place between millenials and gen Z and struggle to find friends around my age who don't have like kids and stuff but are working and living by themselves if yaknowwhatimean?? I'm profficient in memes but I don't do social media, I love new fashion trends and wish I were an e-girl but I'm paying a mortgage. Music wise I'm a big Glass Animals fan, I love Aurora, Lorde, Randa, Tyler the Creator and some old classics like Muse and RHCP. My fave anime/manga is Mob Psycho 100. I feel in between generations and don't recognize myself in most of the Reddit community (I don't really like harry potter, avengers, the witcher... I'm sorry). I often feel like a weirdo, both online and irl. If somehow you kinda recognized yourself a bit here plEASE let's be friends!
2020.09.21 06:50 aarongertlerA Requiem for Ravnica
This was a tough year for Magic in many ways. Certain cards were too good. Certain tournaments were a bit samey. But even a tough year of Magic contains a lot of good games and a lot of fun cards. And even if our enemies vanish with rotation, it is a bittersweet victory, because we lose some friends along the way. This post, like myRequiem for Ixalan, is a requiem for what we've lost, and a "thank you" to the cards that shaped some of our most enjoyable moments. We just lost a lot of sets, and I'm definitely going to leave out some cards here. Please record your own goodbyes in the comments!
Ravnica may be the best plane in the game. So many of its sets and cards have been absolute heaters over the years. From Lightning Helix and Shadow of Doubt to Voice of Resurgence and Ruric Thar, the guilds and their warriors have defined the game for many of us. The latest block was no exception. I'll start with the guilds, and hold the WAR and other monocolored cards until the end. Goodbye, Azorius. Goodbye to Dovin, everyone's favorite three-drop white-blue planeswalker, who was almost close to good enough... twice, in two sets. Goodbye to Elite Guardmage, who... see "Dovin". Goodbye to Lavinia, who never really hung out with us -- but we'll still root for her as she takes on Force of Will and other nonsense in the big leagues. Goodbye to Deputy of Detention, exiler of 2/2 zombies and good friend to Yorion players everywhere. And goodbye to Dovin's Acuity, one of the more unexpected Mythic Championship superstars of the modern era. Goodbye to Absorb -- a perfectly balanced lifegain control card, which turns out to be harder to make than you'd expect. Goodbye to High Alert (and its Rubenesque companions -- Senate Courier, Resolute Watchdog, Humongulus, and all the rest). Goodbye to Unbreakable Formation, which wins the "wait, that was an Azorius card?" award for this block. And goodbye to Dovin's Veto, which I've awarded the Azorius MVP trophy after Teferi was banned from the league for breaking the rules of the game. Goodbye, Boros. Goodbye to Feather -- who inspired one of the all-time great MagicTCG preview threads, and actually lived up to the hype (unlike certain boar gods I could name). Goodbye to Deafening Clarion; people laughed at your lifelink, but it won many a game nonetheless. Goodbye to Aurelia, a four-mana ball of stats who hung on to relevance for longer than I expected. And goodbye to Tajic, beloved friend and mentor, who died in a clarion accident (leaving behind a wife and four children, who took no damage). Goodbye to Chance for Glory, one of the worst cards ever to end up in rank 1 mythic at the end of a season. Goodbye to Legion Warboss -- you were no Goblin Rabblemaster, but we loved you for who you were, and for the main-phase bugfix in Arena that should be named after you. And goodbye to Justice Strike; we'll see you later in Tier 3 Historic, as you make Phyrexian Obliterator players wish they had never been born. Goodbye, Dimir. Goodbye to Lazav, and the endless closet full of Halloween costumes they've been using to impersonate dragons and angels and Elder Giants. Goodbye to Doom Whisperer, one of the best unplayable five-drops of all time, and to Nightveil Predator, which was somehow just a little bit more playable than Doom Whisperer. Speaking of nigh-unplayable fancy flying creatures: Goodbye to Dream Eater! And to Thief of Sanity, best of the bad bunch, and a worthy update to my old favorite creature, Dimir Cutpurse. But the biggest trap card of them all, of course -- no contest, really -- was Unmoored Ego (farewell!). They are all bad but I love most of them anyway. Goodbye to Narcomoeba, Discovery/Dispersal, Mission Briefing, and especially Drowned Secrets, which teamed up to create a self-mill deck that was exactly as powerful as those decks ought to be. I picture them hanging out in a bar and watching their friend Creeping Chill destroy aggro decks on a TV that shows only Twitch streamers playing Modern leagues. And goodbye to a BUNCH of other sweet uncommons, as powerful as the rares and mythics weren't -- Thought Erasure, Sinister Sabotage, and Disinformation Campaign (which held the short-lived title of "most obnoxious draft uncommon in recent memory" until Zenith Flare came along). Goodbye, Golgari. When Magic was about grinding, you ground better than anyone. Goodbye to Golgari Findbroker and to Find/Finality -- I wish I'd had more time with you before they printed Nissa. Goodbye to Molderhulk, which lost Memorial to Folly early in its career and never recovered. Goodbye to Status/Statue -- likewise dependent on a Dominaria card which left it behind. Goodbye to Assassin's Trophy, which turned out beautifully -- like Rotting Regisaur, a combination of ridiculous upside and horrific downside that wound up perfectly balanced. And goodbye to Kraul Harpooner, slayer of geese. Lastly, goodbye to Vraska, Golgari Queen, one of the best-designed planeswalkers of all time, not least because she turned many of the most irritating planeswalkers of all time into lifeless rock. I wish I'd had more chances to cast you, my friend. See you in Cube. Goodbye, Gruul. Goodbye to Domri, who may have the best record of any planeswalkerat getting cool, well-designed cards that are fun but not overpowering. I'd say I'm curious about what the next version will do, but... well, he died. Anyway, goodbye to Ravager Wurm, which could kill Castles and Triomes but cost one mana too much to ever actually do those things in a major tournament. Goodbye to Cindervines -- like Vraska, you weren't flashy, but you killed so many of the worst things in Standard and you did it with a smile. Goodbye to Skaargan Hellkite, the packaged baloney to Glorybringer's Christmas ham -- not as tasty, but sometimes you just need to make a sandwich. And goodbye to Collision/Colossus, the original Embercleave. I'll also say farewell to Riot, one of my favorite recent mechanics -- it was well-powered for Limited and Constructed. And while Rhythm of the Wild couldn't live up to the hype, and Zhur-Taa Goblin was always a bit mopey, I will always go to bat for Gruul Spellbreaker, the absolute Platonic ideal of an aggressive three-drop. Goodbye, Izzet. Goodbye to Ral, Izzet Viceroy -- one of the last in a long line of planeswalkers with the same text written in different words. I'll miss those innocent days when "plus one, draw a card" was Standard-playable text on a five-drop. Goodbye to Niv-Mizzet, Parun, which was exactly powerful enough to justify its ridiculous mana cost and somehow remained a relevant threat until the very end. Goodbye to Crackling Drake and Goblin Electromancer, worthy squires to Syr Arclight Phoenix -- and of course, goodbye to Phoenix, which had very big shoes to fill and did so with ease. May you someday darken the skies of Modern once more, you wonderful bird. Speaking of constructed all-stars, can we pour one out for the fact that one of the best monored Standard decks of all time owed its power not to Boros, Gruul, or Rakdos, but instead to the least aggressive of the red guilds? I lost to you both many a time, but now we can let bygones be bygones -- so goodbye, Runaway Steam-Kin and Experimental Frenzy. And of course, there were instants and sorceries! Goodbye to Ionize, which formed a perfect pair with Absorb to ask: "What kind of blue mage are you?" Goodbye to Quasiduplicate; it's hard to stick out in a lineup of Clone variants, but you were one of the good ones. Goodbye to Risk Factor, which was never very good but was always delightfully weird. Goodbye to the butter-smooth Radical Idea, the rock-solid Chemister's Insight, and the brilliant Beacon Bolt -- which zapped many a Krasis out of the sky. And also -- goodbye to Expansion/Explosion, my wife's favorite card in the block. She's going to miss casting Fling for 30 damage instead of 15. Goodbye, Orzhov. Goodbye to Kaya, Orzhov Usurper -- delightfully versatile role-player and sniper of a thousand Uros. Goodbye to Seraph of the Scales, which met the same sad fate as Doom Whisperer but was a sweet design nonetheless. And goodbye to Ethereal Absolution, which singlehandedly murders most of the decks I've ever loved to play. Goodbye to Kaya's Wrath; Shatter the Sky is cold comfort when Godless Shrine players used to have the real thing. Goodbye to Mortify, worthy adversary to four-mana enchantments, and to Basilica Bell-Haunt, oppressive nightmare to one-mana creatures (not that I mind). And goodbye to Tithe Taker -- if we'd only had a few more Death and Taxes cards that good, we could've had a real deck! Goodbye, Rakdos. Goodbye to Judith! You were overrated, but when all the hype faded, what remained was a solidly playable aggro legend. I wish you'd had more to do in your time. Goodbye to Rakdos and Captive Audience -- two unplayable cards, two unforgettable designs. Goodbye to Theater of Horrors -- alongside Golgari Findbroker and Thief of Sanity, you remind me of a simpler time, before I started having to write "card advantage" with scare quotes. And goodbye to Spawn of Mayhem; every time someone casts you in Historic, I have to stop and remind myself that you still somehow cost only three mana. I imagine you turning to Gruul Spellbreaker and giving her one of these handshakes ("respectable muscles!"). Goodbye to Bedevil, one of those role-players that keeps Standard humming along without calling attention to itself. Goodbye to Drill Bit, my favorite Thoughtseize variant in quite some time. Goodbye to Skewer the Critics and Light Up the Stage; I never liked you much, but I respected you both. Goodbye to Rix Maadi Reveler, who I both liked and respected. And of course, goodbye to Carnival/Carnage, the perfect split card for all occasions. Goodbye, Selesnya. Goodbye to Trostani and Emmara, the all-around strongest pair of legends in any guild this time around. You were both sweet and flavorful, and I wish we'd had more chances to build big boards together. (Someday, I might get some other paper boomers together and run tournaments in Ravnica block Standard with all the silly cards banned from the beginning -- there's so much to love here!) Goodbye to FloweFlourish -- I always drew you on exactly turn four, and it always sucked, but I appreciate how good you were for so many others. Goodbye to Huatli's Raptor, the Yoshi to Pelt Collector's Mario. And goodbye to Knight of Autumn, one of the best-designed cards in the entire block; I hated to see you destroy my Lucky Clovers, but I had to smile in appreciation nonetheless. Convoke is one of my favorite mechanics, and this block did it justice. We had one sweet bomb that almost got there, one clean role-player, and one archetype-defining monster that was powerful but never broken. Goodbye to you all! Goodbye, Simic. Some of your citizens did some very bad things, but it would be wrong to blame that on Prime Speaker Vannifar, a wonderfully silly Johnny card that saw fringe play all throughout its run. Or Biomancer's Familiar, which I still hope to break in Historic someday. Or Biogenic Ooze, which was equally fun in fair bad decks and unfair bad decks. Or, hell, even Neoform, which sees play in several broken decks but can't really be blamed for any of them. Also, Simic gave gave us Incubation/Incongruity, the balanced version of Once Upon a Time, which I played far more than I should have (while whiffing as often as I deserved to). And then we have one of my all-time favorites, the card I'll always have to pull my mouse away from in Cube drafts when I'm in Mardu -- Frilled Mystic. Your departure is expected, but unwelcome. Remember Growth-Chamber Guardian? Remember Incubation Druid? Adapt was incredibly sweet! It even gave us a card that didn't exist solely to make control decks miserable, in the form of Pteramander -- trans-rights icon and Mythic Invitational champion. And goodbye to all the rest:
All the other sweet planeswalkers from War of the Spark -- often overshadowed, but never forgotten. I don't have time to say a proper goodbye, but I'll call you out by name:
Jace, Wielder of Mysteries!
Vivien, Champion of the Wilds!
Liliana, Dreadhorde General!
Sarkhan the Masterless!
Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage!
Ajani, the Greathearted!
Ugin, the Ineffable!
Karn, the Great Creator! (Sorry, Vintage.)
Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge!
Ral, Storm Conduit!
Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord!
Saheeli, Sublime Artificer!
Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner!
Vraska, Swarm's Embrace!
Tibalt, Rakish Instigator!
Ashiok, Dream Render! ...who isn't really "overshadowed" but is pretty sweet nonetheless.
And last but emphatically not least: Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God, who may have inspired more good players to play bad Standard decks than any other card in history (if you think the title belongs to another card, tell me in the comments!). Let's pause for a poem:
If Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God // and my girl // both drowning // and I can only save one // catch me at my girl funeral // with a 1-3 record
And now, in WUBRG order across the three sets:
Divine Visitation! If only you had cost four mana like the rest of them. I wanted so, so badly for you to be good. But you've also won me some of my favorite Cube games of all time, and I expect we'll see more of those together.
Dawn of Hope, which feels to me like the perfect control wincon; not as fast and brutal as Shark Typhoon, not as slow and miserable as Teferi. Had they taken one mana off the draw ability, I might have tried to break this.
Gird for Battle -- designing one-drop combat tricks doesn't feel like it should leave much design space, but they keep coming up with new ideas!
Healer's Hawk, which is right up there with Nicol Bolas in terms of "tempting people to play bad decks." And who wouldn't be tempted? So many words for one mana!
Murmuring Mystic didn't feel Standard-playable when I first saw it, but became a fine role-player in Phoenix; so many more cards are "playable" than we first realize!
Guild Summit (plus Circuitous Route, Gates Ablaze, Gate Colossus, and Gatebreaker Ram) -- remember when you could build a very reasonable Standard deck with just a pile of uncommons?
Midnight Reaper was, quietly, one of the most powerful cards in its entire set. It wasn't coincidence that it showed up in solid numbers in the top 8 of the last Mythic Invitational -- and that was a Historic tournament!
Lava Coil! Thundering Rebuke might be a bit better, but this card still took out a lot of important creatures in its time.
Reasons that people concede on the second turn of the game, in order of frequency (my best guess): Missed land drop, Arena disconnect, the second Witch's Oven, and the opponent casting a free Nullhide Ferox off of Thought Erasure.
Hero of Precinct One, the card so sweet that people still named their decks after it even when they started playing zero copies
Lumbering Battlement, the original Yorion.
Mesmerizing Benthid, a weird and delightful variant of the "big token-producing five-drop" trope
Sphinx of Foresight got a bad rap from Fires of Invention, but is also a wonderful design -- I hope to see more exploration in this space from Wizards (cards that trade power for consistency)
Clear the Mind defined the kind of Limited archetype that we don't get to play very often.
Quench: The most reluctantly playable card in the entire Standard format? Had to be up there, but it still did the job!
Crokeyz, on Dread Wanderer: "So it's a worse Gutterbones. A better Gutterbones? ...a different Gutterbones." We've seen this card before and we'll see it again, but every version is special in its own way.
Priest of Forgotten Gods: Maybe a bit too punishing alongside Claim the Firstborn, but it made the same deal as many other two-drops -- "I die to removal, or you die to me" -- and required more setup than, say, Lotus Cobra. A fair powerful card.
End-Raze Forerunners: The epitome of "We have Craterhoof Behemoth at home"... but it still crushed a lot of people in its day. Alongside Finale of Devastation, gave players a way to actually win Simic ramp mirrors, so that everyone got to go home.
God-Eternal Oketra: I wanted this card to work but couldn't figure it out, so I cast it aside... and then lost to it in the first game of the most important match of my Magic career. Zombie cat always comes back.
Finale of Glory: I lost to this card in the third game of the second-most-important match of my Magic career. And I wasn't even mad, because sometimes you just get attacked by 15 angels and die. That's Magic.
Tomik, Distinguished Advokist: Nice Nissa. Nice Wasteland. Nice Life from the Loam. What more could you want from a white two-drop?
Rally of Wings: Of all the decks in the last Standard format, I think I had the worst record against Flying Tribal. This was usually the last thing I saw before Arena went black (and purple).
Narset's Reversal: How many two-mana interactive spells have generated more excited storytelling or epic screenshots?
Fblthp, the Lost: Don't let your memes be dreams. Instead, let them be solid role players that synchronize with Charming Prince and hose unwary Bonecrusher Giants.
Massacre Girl: Speaking of memes, this was just an incredible design -- powerful and flavorful. A+ to everyone involved.
God-Eternal Bontu: You can have all the power you want -- but at a proportionate price. Few cards better represent black as a color.
Command the Dreadhorde: A big silly Commander card that rose to tier one on the back of a great deal of brewing. The perfect blend of Spike and Johnny.
Aaron: "Well, I don't think I can lose this game. Those one-loyalty planeswalkers don't matter. I'm just going after their life total." The Elderspell: "Sorry, you lose." Aaron: "FUUUUU-"
Lazotep Reaver: So... they printed Raise the Alarm. In black. With tribal synergy. And it is a four-of staple in one of the best Historic decks. Nice random draft common!
Finale of Promise: Don't remember this as the card that Teferi ruined (to a greater extent than any other card?). Remember this as four mana for two cards and nine power in hasty fliers. Remember it as it would want to be remembered.
Finale of Devastation: Tap. Tap. Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap kill you.
Paradise Druid: Almost inspirational in how friggin' fair it is. "You can kill this, but not until I get my one mana." Lovely design.
Arboreal Grazer: I... well, I never liked this card. But other people clearly love it. "Keep a six-card hand with Grazer" love it. "Cast two copies in our limited match" love it. This goes out to all you sloth aficionados, even if I don't understand you.
Vivien's Arkbow: Somehow much more fun than other spin-the-wheel cards. Probably because it encourages long, grindy, interactive games instead of dying to a coin flip on turn four. Hint, hint ;-)
Casualties of War: Black can kill half of everything. Green can kill half of everything. Together both, they licked the platter clean. One of those cards that's so gosh-darn elegant that it makes you wonder how many other designs this clean still exist, just waiting to be printed. Cards like this are the reason I can't not be excited for whatever set is around the corner.
Dreadhorde Butcher: Four-of Historic staple. Quietly murdering Uro decks since 2020. Just a clean, clean card.
Oath of Kaya: That's not rain; it's just Yorion crying, because his favorite enchantment is gone. This was kind of a villain card because Teferi could bounce it, but I loved it as a way to give aggro just enough respect in the Yorion decks I built to handle broken midrange decks. Hopefully, the Ugins I've killed with it will compensate for all the unfortunate Mayhem Devils I zapped along the way.
Solar Blaze: Combine red's love of firepower with white's judo, and you get this beast of a sweeper. Elder Gargaroth can breathe a little easier now.
Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves: Always fought for space with Oketra and Trostani, but won those fights more often than not. Great flavor for a GW removal spell; a strong sideboard card, but not one that won games by itself. Will be missed.
Angrath's Rampage: This block was such an incredible boon for flexible removal spells! This goes on the list with Trophy and Bedevil and Tyrant's Scorn and Knight of Autumn, as well as...
Domri's Ambush: One thing I loved about War of the Spark is that it turned planeswalkers into creatures in a bunch of small ways. These are physical beings you've summoned to fight for you -- so of course Cruel Celebrant can drink their blood, and Domri can sneak up behind them and bash them with a stick.
Tenth District Legionnaire: Heroic-style effects are an awesome way to bring Limited-only combat tricks into constructed. Feather may have spawned an archetype, but she wouldn't have gotten far without her best girl Mileva.
Tyrant's Scorn: A removal spell that isn't dead against control! A tiny upgrade to Smother to reward you for playing a second color! My inner designer smiles at this card.
Niv-Mizzet Reborn: My favorite trope in fiction is when squabbling rivals unite in the face of a greater enemy. This, Planewide Celebration, and Mobilized District carry a lot of weight for that theme, and I love them for it. Also an incredible example of "how to design a card that worms into a brewer's brain and won't get out" -- with six lines of text, Wizards made me spend at least six hours trying to build around this thing.
Mobilized District: I looked up this card while I wrote the article, and I looked at the art again, and I read the flavor text again, and I almost cried. War of the Spark was an emotional payoff unlike any I ever expect to see again in Magic, and I'm glad I took the time to experience it one last time before I wave goodbye.
What do you miss, now that rotation is upon us? What requiem will you write?
2020.09.21 05:55 Wiggymaster09/20/2020... it can't get much worse
The economy is in the toilet due to a global pandemic which has killed hundreds of thousands, the west cost on fire, there are a record number of hurricanes, RBG just died, and the devil incarnate singing about it like Wharton in The Green Mile while he continues to plot the downfall of our nation. Oh, and just about every single NFL team I despise wins the weekend while the Lions sit at 0-2 and down two in the division. I get it... I have a job. I haven't died of covid yet, nor has anyone I know. I have a home and a fianceé and plenty of good things in my own life to offset the meteor storm of chaos and misery that has beset our world... but damn if this doesn't feel like The Big Bad has completely beaten all the heroes. This day was like a perfect microcosm of the entire year. At this point, I couldn't care less who gets fired or what changes are made. I know that this is likely Stafford's final year on the team. I guess that's what depresses me most of all. Not only is he a talent the likes of which the NFL only sees once or twice in a generation, he's an incredible human being. Kids should have him as their hero. Instead, they hardly know him, because he plays for this horrible franchise which has squandered yet another amazing player after doing the same to two other greats, if not greatests. I so badly wanted to see him break the curse of Bobby Layne and finally take this team to the promised land. Now it would seem that we're entering another Decade of Despair, where memes and brown paper bags are the only thing fans of this franchise will have to look forward to. So here's to you guys - each and every one of you. You guys are the greatest fanbase. This team doesn't deserve any of us. No matter what, we're here, chanting FTP, shitposting and drinking the pain away. I love you all.
I understand that people are always hesitant to answer this very specifically, but I'm always curious - given 7 million visitors, what your ballpark profit? And what's the ratio of the profit-to-expenses, which I assume is mostly server hosting costs as a one man operation?
Most of my profit comes from ads. I make around 5 cents for every hour someone spends in Photopea (on average). In 2019, people spent 5 million hours working in Photopea, so I made around $250,000. I hope it could be 2x to 4x more this year :)
Photopea runs completely in your computer (after Photopea.com loads, you can disconnect from the internet and use it offline). I use only a file hosting, for which I pay around 50 USD a year.
the below is a reply to the above
How is that possible to only pay 50 USD/year when you get ~7 million people in a month and your site is 1.8mb. That's around 12tb/month. I don't know of any host willing to do 12tb of data for $50/12
I don't understand it either :/ I will ask my hosting provider.
the below is a reply to the above
I already did :)
the below is another reply to the original answer
I'm glad you have a subscription option. As a policy I don't turn my adblocker off, but I'll totally subscribe as your rates are quite reasonable! If you're around and don't mind answering, how many subscriptions do you have?
There are hundreds of people paying for Premium :) so about 0.01% of all users :)
the below is another reply to the original answer
How much do you think you're losing out because of adblockers?
It is hard to tell, maybe between 10 to 40 percent :/
the below is a reply to the above
You should implement a donation feature as well, to offer more ways for users to support you.
People can already order a Premium. I think it is better to get something in return (removing ads), so anybody who wants to support us can do it :)
First of all, thank you for making a great alternative. My question is, how would you compare Photopea to The Gimp in terms of features and interface?
The interface of Photopea is closer to Photoshop than GIMP (so it is more comfortable to Photoshop users). I think all you can do in GIMP you can do in Photopea, but with a different workflow. You can open GIMP files (XCF) in Photopea.
There are many advanced features in Photopea, that are not in GIMP. The most important is probably the full support of a PSD format.
the below is a reply to the above
Have to confess I'd never heard about this software until reading your post, but your mention of the PSD feature makes me want to check it out immediately. I admire your determination, dedication, and skills.
Thank you :)
the below is a reply to the above
Does it support vectors better than Photoshop? I don't like how limited it is in Photoshop. Even illustrator is annoying
Photopea can open SVG and PDF images better than Photoshop. Just try it!
the below is a reply to the grandparent
Thank you for your program. I use it to make memes and do photoshopped things!
You are welcome! I am happy that Photopea is useful to you :)
How did you learn how to make software?
I was interested in computers since I was 14. I was studying computer science at the university between 18 and 25 years of age.
I studied theoretical computer science at the Charles university in Prague. Finishing the university was probably the hardest thing in my life (I do not enjoy learning as much as I enjoy creating stuff). But I also think it was the most valuable and productive part of my life and I am very proud of it :)
Here to say I've been using it, maybe the only white listed site on my ad-block. What was the hardest part to implement?
The advanced foreground selection was quite hard. It is used e.g. in MagicCut. I wanted to reach the quality of remove.bg (where you pay $2 per image), but it still does not work that well.
Anyway, I think MagicCut works better than all other free tools and many commercial tools, so it can save you a lot of money :)
I know quite a lot about this research :) The problem is, that people use Photopea for free, so it would have to run on their computers. They would have to download a 200 MB network, and unless they don't have a $2000 GPU, they would have to wait for hours to do such foreground / background detection.
the below is a reply to the above
From the paper: "To facilitate the usage of our design in computation and memory constrained environments, we provide a small version of our U2-Net, called U2-Net† (4.7 MB). The U2-Net† achieves competitive results against most of the SOTA models (see Fig. 1) at 40 FPS." Unless there's something similar but better or they're outright lying, 4.7 MB sounds like an extremely reasonable memory footprint and it's pretrained so nobody's going to max out their GPU. You might want to give it another look.
Not 100% sure, but a GPU is needed to train the network (which can take hours) and the trained networks usually do things in seconds or even faster. Users would still need to download the network, but it wouldn't be very computationally expensive.
Such trained network can process the input in seconds on the GPU. If you process the input of the network on a CPU (even with multiple cores), it can take minutes or even hours. And training on a CPU can take weeks :)
I use Photopea regularly when developing web sites. I don't have to fire up my VM or limit myself to GIMP or Krita. The third most popular tech magazine in the Czech Republic, Letem světem Applem, was developed with the help of your tool. Díky! My question: will you ever open-source Photopea, at least partially?
I'm scared to even open that repo 😂. What hosting provider are you using that can handle 5 million users in a year?
I have a local hosting provider from the Czech Republic. It is just distributing HTML, CSS and JS files (no server-side computations like PHP or SQL databases), so it is not that hard.
Hi! Two questions 1. Does photopea have support for RAW photo files of varying cameras? (.ARW for example) 2. Why do you think Adobe charges so much for their platform when your model is clearly fairly simple to produce (if one person can do it alone) and functions profitably?
Hi! Yes, Photopea can open .DNG, .CR2, .NEF and .ARW files :)
There are programs that are much more expensive than Adobe products :) It is hard to tell, but I think it is because there are no reasonable alternatives, or the alternatives are not known very well.
the below is a reply to the above
As a Fuji user, .RAF support coming at some point?
Hi, the .RAF format was invented by Fuji and has never been publicly described anywhere. I tried to ask Fuji to provide a description of their format, so that I can implement it into Photopea, but nobody replied :(
I think Fuji does not want you to open their files in any other software than their software.
the below is a reply to the above
I don't think fuji has their own editing software, most people use either Capture One or Lightroom, or Irident X-Transformer to convert into a DNG
Photopea can open DNG without any problems :) but it is a real pity they don't store it in DNG directly.
I just discovered this software and it is bloody amazing. As a hobby animator, I'm wondering - Do you have any plans, or have you at least thought about, making an animation software in the same way you have achieved this? Something like Adobe Flash/Animate or Toon Boom Harmony. (I'm already sold on your idea for a video editor, since Davinci Resolve's free version has NEVER been able to render videos for me without crashing) There is a distinct lack of reasonably priced animation software that achieves nearly as much as these two ridiculously expensive subscription programs, without sacrificing something really important to animation. The closest thing to achieving what Animate or Harmony has is Blender's new 2d animate mode, and even then, you have to sacrifice convenient features like easy tweening. An alternative free (or one-purchase) animation software would make me - and so many other people happy. Now that I know this software exists, I'll be sure to donate to its production.
Thanks! You are not the first one asking for this :) I wish I could make so many tools, but I am afraid my life is too short for all that work :D
If I manage to make a good team of programmers in the future, I would love to make such animation software.
Is there a comprehensive guide I can find for all the tools in photopea? I’m new to photo editing and still confused by the interface.
Photopea is an advanced editor and it is hard to learn simply by using it. I wrote a manual here: www.Photopea.com/learn .
the below is a reply to the above
You made documentation? What kind of unholy programmer from the abyss are you? Don’t let our bosses find out or we’re screwed.
I made it after several years of explaining people how to do things in emails, etc :) Now, I can simply send them links to my documentation. It took me less than a week :D
I love using photopea! I open it almost daily. Is there a way to review the source and contribute pull requests? Have you thought about providing an offline or self-hosted release?
Good to know I got its pronunciation right :D I like photos and I like peas. What made you call it photopea?
I wanted it to be PhotoSomething, and I wanted a domain PhotoSomething.com . Most of domains were occupied, until I found Pea :)
Not a question, but I just want to put this out there for all the non-developers, but the fact that Photopea was created by a single programmer is absolutely astounding. As a developer myself, I cannot fathom the productivity of this developer nor have I ever met someone that could be this productive. Teams of 10-20 developers could not match the functionality and feature list of photopea. And actually, here is a question after all, have you ever recorded or livestreamed yourself coding? I'm having a hard time imagining the pace required to be this productive. Do you have an estimate of the number of hours you have put into this?
Hi, thanks a lot! I think I put between 15 000 and 20 000 hours into Photopea :) I never recorded myself programming, but most of it is just staring into the wall thinking, opening Youtube or Reddit from time to time (to "relax" a bit), and I writing code once in a while :)
Any chance your program can export files to work with a cnc machine?
Sure, just tell me what format does that machine accepts? Is than an open format? Can you use e.g. an SVG?
Manufacturers often create their proprietary formats to make you dependent on their software.
the below is a reply to the above
G-Code is pretty common, although I'm unsure as to what Z-axis information you would capture in an image format unless it was texturized somehow and interpreted that as topography? Maybe like the color coded images to show 3 dimensions in a planar view. I know lasewaterjet cutting and similar that do 2D operations typically ask me for a DXF file or equivalent. I've never used Photopea for this (or even tried) but typically I take a vector format and import into CAD software to generate a DXF for this purpose. I know my media guy can never get me a format I need to import a logo and such for mechanical design. A DXF or similar vector would be amazing if it doesn't exist already.
Hi, would you be able to write this into our GitHub? https://github.com/photopea/photopea/issues . And most importantly, would you be able to discuss it there with me, if I have any questions? I never worked with any CNC machine.
Hi !! Can I know about your backend ?
the below is a reply to the above
Have you used any frontend frameworks?
the below is another reply to the original answer
How do you handle users that pay for premium? There must be some sort of database right?
Yes, there is a database. I just wanted to say, that out of these 7 million people, the database is needed maybe for a hundred of them.
the below is another reply to the original question
Not without dinner first
Take my upvote, too :)
Are there any new browser features or HTML features that will make your code a lot simpler?
I would love if browsers let Photopea know, when Ctrl+T was pressed on the keyboard. People have been using the Ctrl+T shortcut in Adobe Photoshop for decades and almost every week, someone asks why it does not work in Photopea.
At the moment, when you press Ctrl+T in any browser, it opens a new tab (panel), and a we can not do anything about it :( I have been personally arguing about it with browser developers for over five years.
"Fighting" with browser developers is quite a big part of my work, which is quite sad :(
the below is a reply to the above
When in fullscreen Ctrl+T works in both Chrome and Edge, it triggers the transform tool. Maybe prompt the user to switch Photopea to fullscreen ? The website feels like a standalone app so it makes sense to get rid of the browser UI anyway.
I think the Ctrl+T should be usable even when not in the fullscreen mode.
What are your plans for the video editor, and how can I keep up to date on its progress? (video editor here that loves what you did with photopea)
I do not have any specific plans about the video editor yet. You can follow Photopea on Facebook or Twitter to know about the progress (links in my original post) :)
You mentioned your income is through ads. Have you thought of other avenues for revenue sources or ways to increase your current revenue even more to be able to hire more employees?
Yes, I have thought about it, but I don't know about any ways, which could work better than ads.
Most of the current Photopea user can not afford to pay for the software, so I don't want to make half of features available only after the payment.
the below is a reply to the above
Would a premium version that's identical in features but without ads be an option? Unless this is already a thing?
It is already a thing :) You can hide ads for $10 for three months. Also, there is no subscription, you pay manually any time you want. Ads come back once it runs out :)
What things does Photoshop do better than your alternative?
Photoshop can open almost all RAW image formats (in their Camera Raw program). I think Adobe pays the camera manufacturers, so that they allow Adobe to open raw files from their cameras.
At the moment, Photopea can open only four RAW formats, which cover around 80% of the market.
Do you think that photopea has been a success? I use it for work everyday and I certainly think it is!
I think it is the most useful thing I made in my life so far, so it is a success :)
Good stuff. Love a free image editor. Why is this already on the front page, with just 6 comments and 22 points?
I don't know much about the Reddit algorithm, but I think it is also about how old the post is. E.g. if you get 20 points in 5 minutes, you will be on top of a post, which received 50 points in an hour.
What's your favourite video game? Also thank you the amount if complete trash I have cropped using photopea is immeasurable
I received my first computer when I was 13 and PC games seemed too complicated to me (and most of them were in English, which I did not know well). I never had a playstation or a gameboy. So I never played video games much.
The first game I "understood" and truly enjoyed playing was Serious Sam :) I also spent A LOT of time playing Clash of Clans.
Will it stay free or is there a possibility that you're gonna put a price on that?
Photopea has been free to use since the first release seven years ago, and I would like to keep it free to use in the future, too.
Love photopea, I use it all the time! Does anyone trouble you with any legal issues since it's basically an online photoshop?
Thanks! I think the similarity of the interface of Photoshop and Photopea (and other photo editors) is a good thing. Imagine if each brand of computers had a different layout of a keyboard, because they wanted to be "different". I am very happy, that I can simply take any keyboard and start typing on it right away.
Maybe one time someone will come and say, that we have to make the background red, because the dark grey color is already used in their program. And we have to rename the Brush tool to "hair on a stick tool", because the Brush tool is already used in their program. But I hope such time will never come :D
the below is a reply to the above
Please make an April 1st version with copyright-friendly tools, that would be awesome. Brush – Hair on a stick Bucket – Metal container Move – Relocate and so on. Edit: April Tools’ Day
That is a graet idea! :D
How do you approach creating something that is intuitive? How do you know that your logic is universally understood? Are there any examples of tools, tasks, icons that you have had to change based on feedback? Thank you and great work!
The user interface of Photopea has been evolving for seven years and there were probably hundreds of suggestions from users, which I listened to and modified, to get what we have now :)
Hi Ivan, I've used Photopea for a couple of years for basic editing. Congratulations - it's an amazing tool. The only feature that prevents me from upgrading to a paid version is the font selection interface. There are far too many fonts available, they load slowly, are all obscure and not represented well in preview. Would you consider curating/refining the available fonts?
Hi, thanks! It is completely fine to use Photopea for free, you don't have to pay for Premium :)
You can mark some fonts with a star, and then, you can display only the "starred" fonts. You can use filters to see e.g. only "sans" fonts and hide "comic" or "handwritten" fonts. You can enable Latin-1 and other language categories, to see only fonts with many letters (only professional fonts support more than 200 letters).
Have you experienced any pushback/pressure from the bigger players?
No :) I have been in touch with people from Google, Adobe, Corel, Canva and other companies, evrybody was very friendly and helpful :)
Thanks for making Photopea- I'm certainly loving it. Will there ever be an offline version?
A big challenge is, that Photopea can not use fonts from your computer, and it downloads fonts from our server, when you choose to use that font. So changing fonts would not work in an offline version (except of a couple of fonts we could pre-store).
I think the amount of time people spend using their computer offline is decreasing, and will be almost zero at some point :)
the below is a reply to the above
If I use a font I have purchased, is it easy to implement, if you don't have that font on your server?
Hi, just press File - Open in Photopea to load a font (TTF or OTF file) :)
Do you plan to keep photopea solely browser based?
Many people think that browser programs are slower or "less capable" than desktop programs, but it is not true in the last five years. So a "download and install" version of Photopea would not have many advantages.
I could provide an offline version of Photopea, but at the moment, most of money come from ads, which would not work offline :/
the below is a reply to the above
You can try and make an Electron app, I know its essentially a browser but it would give that "native" feel to users.
Hi, you can already press More - Install Photopea in Photopea and use it as a PWA :)
Great. Now can we please start working on a viable PDF editor that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars per year?
Photopea can already do it to some degree :) have you tried it?
The PDF format was not meant to be edited further. But we are improving.
Thanks for developing Photopea. After your last AMA, I started using it. Is there a way for size of a new document to default to image dimensions on the clipboard? That's one of the handiest things in Photoshop so you don't have to either enter manually or overguess then crop down later.
The size of a new document should be set by default to the dimension of the content of the clipboard.
But it works only in Chrome, Edge and Opera. Firefox did not implement the necessary standard yet. Don't know about Safari :/
You mentioned you plan on making a video editor. Have you considered an Illustrator alternative as well?
Photopea already has many vector-related capabilities. It can open, edit and save SVG and PDF files. Somehow, I feel like a video editor would be more fun to make than an advanced vector editor.
the below is a reply to the above
Didn't know it supported editing SVGs. How does it compare to something like Inkscape?
The interface is a lot different than Inkscape. Just try it and see how it works :)
I know this is a long shot, but any chance I can join on board with little to no knowledge so I can learn (for free of course)? 😁 It could be doing menial tasks for all I care. If not, any advice for someone like me wanting to change career path and code? I'm just tired of what I've been doing so I just recently starting some online coding courses but would like to learn more hands on if possible. Hoping to change career path for the future.
Well, if I spend time teaching you, I will have to invest less time into developing Photopea :D
I have been often tired of what I did, I get tired of Photopea-related work from time to time. There is not just a bad job and a good job, there are many things in between. But whenever you have to choose between a simple goal and a hard goal, don't be afraid to go for a hard goal :)
How did you begin to scale up the workforce? What positions did you prioritise and how did the recruitment process go? I'm in an early process of starting up a web application and can see it being difficult going from working alone on a project to trusting people to share the same determination to grow it. Thanks
I do not have any team, I still work on Photopea alone.
Hi. Great stuffs. I will definitely give it a try soon. May I give a suggestion ? I use GIMP for Image editing since I usually have to make some illustrations for my work. And GIMP provides me with the function of adding Text from another format, like LaTeX (to write math formula). Do you think this would be possible to implement in your app ?
Hi, is the LaTeX text rasterized to pixels after you insert it? Or you can modify it in GIMP?
the below is a reply to the above
the LINUX version of GIMP has a module in the Render section which allows me to type in the LaTeX code and product an image of the formula. I am not really used to the terminology of image like vector or raster image. But once the formula is produced, it is not modifiable. So if I messed up, I have to redo the process from the beginning.
We don't have such thing in Photopea at the moment.
Can it do animations? The only thing I use photoshop for at this point is it's animation ability, especially it's keyframe animations, where you can make a single frame last however many seconds you like. If it can do that, i can finally delete photoshop.
This kind of animation capability is exactly what I was looking for. Does it allow you to view the animation as a preview before you choose EXPORT?
Of course :) Just drag-and-drop a GIF into Photopea and try to export it as a GIF, it will take you around seven seconds :)
what was your eureka moment for photopea that whoa this is possible?
Sometimes, when I learn about a new algorithm or a method, I wonder how elegant and ingenious it is :) Like - the person who came up with it should have been really smart, I wish I was also that smart :D
Have you considered using Patreon? Have you considered letting people subscribe for a fixed period if no ads?
Hi, we already offer a Premium account, where you pay and it hides ads for a period of time. I know about Patreon, but I feel a bit uncomfortable about accepting money for nothing in return.
Is there a downloadable version available/in the works?
You can go to www.Photopea.com and press More - Install Photopea, to get an icon to your homescreen.
i tried using it on my display tablet, there doesn't seem to be any pressure sensitivity?
Hi, try to update your tablet (drivers, browser, os, etc). But it works on the latest iPad and on my old Android phone (it tracks the pressure of my finger). If it does not help, try to report it to the tablet manufacturer (as it will not work in any website, not just Photopea).
Is there support for sprite editing tools or just tools in general for game devs?
What made you decide to create a free photo editor?
It was just an experiment of analyzing PSD files in a browser. I gradually improved it. I did not want to make a photo editor during the first two years of work. But at some point, I realised - hey, it should not be that hard to make it into a photo editor.
But it is about Photopea from two years ago. Photopea improved significantly since then.
So is it WASM or just regular old JS + WebGL? I found this looking for a browser based paint.net alternative a while back and thought it was awesome, but the controls were a bit too advanced/inaccessible for my requirements. If you're serious about growing the dev team I'm a self employed engineer if you want to hit me up.
I wrote only JS and GLSL (for GPU processing). I use three WASM libraries, which I did not make. Thanks for your offer, but I would like to hire someone I could work with in person.
I’ve been using photopea ever since your previous AMA a year ago. My question is: how often are do you AMA and how did it impact traffic to photopea?
I did only three AMAs with about a year between them. The traffic grows by about 10 - 20%, which lasts for a day or two :)
How much time have you invested in creating this tool? Or what's your weekly time investment?
I never measured it, but I think it is about the "regular" 40 hours a week.
Did you know most of what you needed before starting on Photopea or did you learn as you went along with adding new features? What unexpected difficulties presented themselves while working on Photopea?
It is like I knew how to use a chisel, but I never carved a statue that big.
I learned many practical things (state-of-art algorithms etc), I used many things I learned at the university, which I thought I will never use :)
How do I start contributing to Photopea?
What would you like to contribute with? You can help us find bugs or help beginners at our subreddit: www.reddit.com/photopea
I hope this hasn't been asked, but why haven't you made a downloadable/fully offline version of your program yet? I know that as soon as you load the site you can use it offline, but there are times when people need to edit pictures without any internet connection at all.
The online version makes it much easier to release new versions and do updates. I update Photopea about 30 times a week (with minor fixes).
Also, it feels a little uncofmortable to imagine, that someone is using a two year old version of Photopea and is cursing me because of some bug, which I already fixed, and I can not do anything about it at that moment :/
What technologies did you use to build this?
It's really great that you're offering an alternative to Photoshop! I was wondering, what language or software did you use to write Photopea?
Hi, you should not use Auto-translate, as we have a professional Swedish translation. Just press More - Language - Svenska. You can switch languages without restarting Photopea.
Photopea.com should be in Swedish the first time you open it, if Swedish is set as your main language.
What's your End User Licensing Agreement looking like? How is this licensed? I like to know before end users start requesting such as im sure someone now wants to install this in a corporate environment...
Photope works in your computer and it never sends any data outside your computer. It is just like buying the cheapest calculator and using it. You don't get a licence to use such calculator, the numbers that you enter into a calculator don't leave the calculator.
What's your opinion of the current state and direction of front-end development?
I think I don't know much about it. I write my JS code in notepad and that code is precisely the code which runs in the browser of a user (without any modification). I did not change the way I develop webapps in the last six years.
the below is a reply to the above
Straight up Windows Notepad? Not notepad++ or Visual Studio Code or Atom or anything else???
I use Notepad++ :)
Are you planning in translating it? If so, I'd be glad to work on the italian version.
Hi, it is already translated into 40 langauges, just press More - Language - Italiano :)
Hey Ivan, i'm very impressed by your work, but i'm an avid GIMP user. As you can imagine switching editors is always a hassle once you've got used to one. So can you give me some bullet points why it would be worth to switch from GIMP to Photopea? Thanks for the AMA!
Hi, I think you should stay with GIMP, since you already know how to use it :) And if there is nothing specific you miss in GIMP, you probably don't need such features :)
Hey ivanhoe90 I noticed today that the pen tool behaves backward when clicking the second point and dragging. It's like the curve goes the opposite direction than anyone would expect. I almost filed a github issue on it but I just didn't have time. Is that a bug?
Oh, I am very sorry, it is fixed now.
Hi, I wanted to know what's your story. That is your biography. And what did you study too get here? How did you get the idea for photopea?
DUDE! Your program saved me in the final semester of my Masters. I needed to upload images and I don't have a scanner so I used my phone and fixed the colour and tones in Photopea. Bless you for your hard work. I guess my question is what kind of cheese do you like?
Thanks a lot! If you only knew how happy I am about such comments :)
I like all cheeses, as I think they are all amazing, each one in a different way.
I love this software and I use it daily, Every time I think to myself "I wonder if can also do" the answer has been yes. I love showing my co-workers this software while working in Citrix, it always blows people away that this works. Question: Any change of seeing a feature that doesn't automatically export local files to the download folder? I would love to select where I want to automatically save them or just save as > location (The google drive system already amazing though) It's that one minor thing that makes me end up with File(17).png
Hi, thanks! The saving mechanism depends on the settings of the web browser. The browser usually handles the file saving the same way for all websites. So just change the browser settings - make the browser ask you about where you want the files to be saved (we can not do anything about it as a website).
Do you think Photopea can have more active users than Photoshop? And why?
It is hard to tell. There are many features in Photoshop and other editors, which Photopea can not do. Even if Photopea has more active users, it does not mean it makes more money.
Well I'm 9 hours late and maybe it was already asked and answered, but if you feel like responding... do you have to recreate stuff like puppet warp or quick select from scratch? Like you have to go back and read some old white paper on the algorithm, and then sort of reinvent the wheel?
Actually, the Puppet Warp is based on a 2009 paper from Takeo Igarashi. I found a mistake in it and I wrote him an email, and it took me several emails to persuade him that he really made a mistake in his paper :) But many other authors refuse to look deep into papers they wrote a long time ago.
Who would you prefer Photopea being aquired by, and why?
I don't know. I am not looking for an acquisition at the moment.
I'm getting into video editing. I'm a noob to photoshop and video editing. Are there any tools in this that can complement my video editing? I was thinking of being able to create custom graphics for the videos but what else are the capabilities?
I dont know much about video editing, but you can use Photopea for photo editing. I think the more time you spend learning a tool, before actually using it, the less time you will spend in total (e.g. doing something by "trial and error" in 3 hours vs. learning it in 1 hour and doing it in 30 minutes, because you learned how to do it).
How were you able to acquire such a vast amount of knowledge about editors and programming?
I studied programming at the university for many years. Learning how to use Photoshop or any other editor is easier, but still can take weeks or months.
the below is a reply to the above
Could you comment on https://github.com/photopea/JS-guide a bit? I don't quite understand why you're against using syntactic sugar. Especially let, const, and strict equality. I'm not claiming to be an expert at all, but most of these guidelines are in opposition to modern day JS practices. So I was just curious if you could elaborate on your decision making!
I think it is up to you what you write. But I am used to writing as "simple" code as possible, and it just looks cleaner to me if you use "var" instead of let/const (and it has no impact on the speed).
I think the knowledge is the most important. Also, it should be someone friendly, calm, rational, etc :D
Hey, I don't know if this has been asked before but since you have mentioned that Photopea can run offline after it's been loaded (meaning that there is no server backend), have you ever considered packing the app into a desktop app (e.g. with Electron or nw.js)?
Hi, I think opening a website is faster and more comfortable than downloading and installing something. Also, the electron version would be hard to update (unless it is just an iframe with Photopea inside it).
Have you ever considered making Photopea into a mobile app?
Hi, half of our users use Photopea on phones. It works quite well. If you look for "photopea" on Youtube, most of videos are recorded on phones.
My Reddit client doesn’t have a comment search feature, but have you considered bundling an electron version for people to download? Seems like a quick win, and even gets around ad blockers. Or if it’s a premium only offering, is just icing on the cake
Hi, I was a bit lazy to maintain a separate version of Photopea. I don't see any advantages it would have over the basic version.
2020.09.20 06:28 omnitionsHow do we make conscious living "cool" for young people??
What younger generations claim as "cool" has always generated interest from not only big business, but politics as well (Florida city reverses ban on 'sagging' 4 days ago https://news.yahoo.com/florida-city-reverses-ban-sagging-213300629.html). Discovering/unfolding what is "cool" at the time can bring 'a man' enough wealth to last a life time, and often, it's enough wealth to last many lifetimes. Wealth, here, is defined not only financially, but emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I currently live in a typical "college" town. There are so many young people that I see out and about everyday and I do see a beautiful trend in our intuition towards respect for all things. However the drinking, fuck everything, lets party mentality is what I see 90 percent of the time from the people from this generation. And I was there too when I was first out on my own as an adult! So zero judgements, simply offering perspective. That is the world put on a pedestal for young people. In most songs in popular culture there are drug references. The songs played at parties about drinking. What they saw on their screens, their "T.V.'s", was the life they are 'rebelling into,' and thus living. A generation raised by trap rap, insta, memes, and 15 second clips. A deteriorating world they feel powerless against, while feeling possible threats to sustained life from every angle. The fear based 'F everybody' mentality appearing heavily is winning because that is what was distributed and absorbed as "Cool" by the people defining cool, itself. But I didn't know anything different, and as soon as I even learned about something larger than myself I gravitated towards it, and witnessed the magnificent unfolding of life outside mainstream daydreams. I had to find the "even learned about something larger than myself" part on my own, and it only happened through divine timing. How I experienced finding the disciplined path of service to all others was nothing short of magic to me. I see a lot of souls are working on this either consciously or subconsciously -- how to make it hip to love Momma Gaia. How to make every action from a place of empathy, understanding, and the desire to be better for oneself as well as their fellow souls inhabiting the same instance of space-time the jivest turkey in the toolbox, the most interesting thing the aspire to (=p). I only use my story in metaphor. I redefined cool for myself and my trajectory shifted towards that. So I inquire upon you, my friends, how do you make conscious living cool? How do we, together, make conscious living something that young people not only aspire to but prioritize? Edit: I am sure there are simple answers to this like, listen to JRE! or read more Alan Watts! and yes those are helpful ways already established guiding us towards the truth, but my question here is how to make those answers more accessible, digestible, and actionable to young generations?? 1 <3
2020.09.19 21:46 Denkata121An addendum to rule 5: No memes
Hello once again from the RimWorld mod team. After some rethinking and general redefining, we have added a new rule to reinforce a subrule: generally, no memes are allowed. This doesn't mean a blanket ban on everything that could be considered a meme; let's make an example:
Someone draws Randy (or Cassandra, ever had her as a storyteller recently?) a-la Drake meme format; that took effort and is considered related to the sub, hence can stay here.
Someone uses God Mode in game to create a screenshot (or even a multipanel screenshot) that resembles the Distracted Boyfriend meme; that is entirely made with in-game asset and, again, took some effort, so it too can stay here.
Someone reposts a gif from All of a turtle chasing a person, with a title relating it to RimWorld; that has not much to do with the game and it was a low effort post, so it belongs to SpaceCannibalism.
Someone creates a meme with a meme generator about RimWorld; again, that is a quite low effort post, and it too goes to SpaceCannibalism.
2020.09.19 20:58 KinoAndCrabLegs[Spoilers] Persona 4 From a Total Noob
Spoilers ahead I heard about this game mostly through osmosis and other friends who were more into JRPGs than I was, the kind of thing where you see the fanart and the memes before you really get an idea of what it is. Going into it, all I really knew was that it was about a bunch of anime teenagers who solve mysteries, and I came out of it with one of the most memorable experiences in games I've had in years, all from an 8 year old port of a PS2 game where the character models might as well be the felt friends from Blue's Clues. It's a stylish, breezy, but at the same time very dense game that occupies a transitional niche on a few different levels that make it interesting to pick apart even if on the surface it seems like your average spikey haired jaunt through some anime tropes. I like anime, in the right doses, and this hit that Goldilocks sweet spot between endearing can-do spirit and outright cringe (though that comes with some big caveats). The soundtrack embodies this to the fullest, opening with a colorful, splashy intro that perfectly sets the tone of the adventure to come. I love the music in this game. Shadow World, Heartbreak Heartbreak, Time to Make History, Signs of Love, etc are now permanently burned into my brain and were so infectious that I found myself humming along when I was driving or doing laundry or whatever for weeks, whereas most games become blurs a few hours after I put it down. I think you kind of have to be familiar with the tropes it's throwing out there to enjoy it, because if you come into it hoping that it gets less anime as time goes on, that ain't gonna happen. I liked some characters more than others, but I think the main cast is nicely well rounded overall. The main plot is meandering by nature, as the pace is largely dictated by your Scooby Doo gang of teens with attitude reacting to a string of mysterious murders and abductions in a small town, but the real magic I think is in the interstitial moments shared between them. Inaba has a strong sense of time and place, framed as a town that is being forgotten, dead and decaying for as many economic reasons as supernatural ones. Your character is implied to be from the big city, moving to a one horse town out in the sticks where Nothing Ever Really Happens. The scope of the town as limited to (for the most part) the high school and the main street, where most shops are boarded up and shuttered, with the denizens cursing the big box store for stealing all the local jobs. I haven't ever been to Japan, but I know towns like Inaba, and I've seen that resentment. Persona 4 came out in 2008, in the wake of a global financial crisis, which intentional or not imbues the setting with a sense of melancholy nostalgia of warm memories of youth even in times of desperation. I was the same age as the protagonist in the set year of 2011, and I remember well playing Modern Warfare 2 or couch co op Halo 3 even while it seemed like the world was crumbling outside, which I imagine resonates with teens now. There's a carefree touch to the writing that makes the little scenes between the characters really sing, little adventures like trips to the beach or trying and failing to pick up chicks together that bring to mind the kind of dumb shit you'd do with your friends, if to an exaggerated degree. Where my patience for dumb shit ran out, however, was with a few characters in particular. It seems natural that in a game about misfit teens on a journey of self discovery and possible romance called PERSONA, that you would explore different sexual identities, but the game handles it in the most clumsy way possible. Maybe I'm not the most knowledgeable guy to speak on this, but it actually bothered me how the game treats Kanji and Naoto. It feels like there were two camps of writers, one that wanted to approach these themes with some measure of nuance, and one that wanted to write haha funny jokes about a chick wearing dude clothes or really bad gay jokes. The worst are from Yosuke, who I actually like as a character and has one of the best Social Links in the game, but once Kanji is introduced, just becomes a font of terrible, cringeworthy skits that make you wish you could just take him aside and just tell him to chill the the fuck out for a while. It gets really weird later on in the story where it's like they pull a "gotcha, they were actually normal the whole time because of this weird loophole" and then never really touch on it again. Overall, the game's writing vacillates wildly between touching and relatable to just ass. I'm no stranger to offensive humor, but it hits different when these people are supposed to be your friends, and the game just constantly uses them as punching bags. Even so, I still really liked Kanji and Yosuke and they ended up being some of my favorite characters in the inner circle, along with Nanako. On the gameplay side of things, I wasn't so hot on the dungeons. I loved the music and the themes, but the actual experience of slogging through 10 floors of samey looking procedurally generated dungeons feels like some brain dead 10th circle of hell that just saps my enthusiasm to play. Add onto the fact that you can't save when you're in there, and it's just this war of attrition on your SP that I couldn't take anymore on Normal. Add onto it the half assed stealth that doesn't even feel like it belongs because you pretty much have to fight every enemy on every floor just to go toe to toe with the boss at the end. Undoubtedly, the best way to play this game is cruise control on Easy so I never had to spend another minute grinding in there than I absolutely had to. I heard that the Golden and NG+ content consisted of more dungeons and I was like nah, no thanks. I've never played a game where I was so at odds with how much I liked the story bits where the game part of the game was so draining. I realize that is has to be there to add context to the struggle that the cast is facing but I'll be honest with you, my game crashed halfway through Adachi's dungeon, and I have not felt motivated to go back. As a final aside about the ending, the way it's decided is just plain stupid. All along, your dialogue choices rarely if ever have any impact aside from choosing which girl you wanna date, but right at the climax, the only way to get a non shitty joke ending that boots you right to the credits is to choose the correct, exact string of like six responses with no deviations, in which case it might as well be on rails. It sucks because the context around the choice is a fascinating moral quandary where everyone steps up and makes complex, impassioned pleas to emotion that highlight their characters, but your paint sniffing protagonist is reduced to meaningless five word prompts that say nothing beyond "hurr guys wait a second" multiple times in a row. It ruins what's otherwise a great scene and honestly kind of killed my drive to finish the game. The final villain is also pretty weak. I don't need to hear some sob story about how he became a murderer, but it would have been neat if Adachi was some sort of foil to the protag by highlighting how social isolation allows bitterness to fester and making friends with different people is what allowed the group enough insight to solve the case and learn to rely on each other, and that's what gives them strength. Instead, he's basically a WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY BOTTOM TEXT meme brought to life with no real depth to speak of. Keeping in mind those caveats, which weighed down on my experience as it wore on, it was still a pretty good ride, and I would recommend it if you have interest in the series and don't know where to start, just be aware of some hard left turns it can take. However, if you do have access to a PS4, definitely play 5 instead, as it's a straight upgrade in every way. I also picked Yukiko and Chie, but since I decided to forgo the ending I choose to believe they carried on happily as a "me, my wife, and our girlfriend" type situation.
2020.09.19 17:11 SebbyWebbyDoodaHeres my review of the Black ops Cold War ALPHA
The best description I can give of BOCW is It is a remaster of a last gen game. While it doesn't sound great it doesn't mean the game is bad either, I liked the multiplayer reveal and kept hearing everything I wanted to hear for a call of duty game such as "slower TTK, good map design, no flinch, gunsmith is back, faster pace, less emphasis on camping" but I was still sceptical as I was not a fan of the past 2 Treyarch titles, now that I got to play the game, I fear I was right to be sceptical. Here's the truth, If you're the kind of player who can still go back and enjoy older COD games with no problem then I feel you will LOVE this game, if you expect your new game to be new then you won't. Gameplay: as I said before, this game feels like an old COD game remastered for current gen and thats not necessarily a bad thing, people used to love that old school COD gameplay for a reason. By todays standards unfortunately the gameplay feels like a massive step back from all the great FPS games we've had this generation such as battlefield, doom, borderlands, titanfall (masterpiece) and hell even newer COD games. Pretty much everything from movement, gunplay, sound, hit detection etc... feels last gen. One thing that I do love however is the TTK which feels PERFECT, god damn do I wish MW had this TTK. Gunplay: I'm sorry but the gunplay in this game is awful for current gen standards, almost every weapon within its class feel the same, All ARs feel the same, all SMGs feel the same, all LMGs feels the same, all sniper rifles feel the same, all of these weapons all feel the same as the other apart from their fire rate. It also doesn't help was that the gunsmith was massively simplified, all weapons seemed to have the same attachments unlocked at the same time, and most attachments don't have that many drawbacks like in MW. Movement: movement feels very arcady which is fine by me but I feel like to could be tweaked slightly, for example I feel like walk and run speeds are too slow but the slide feels like a boost, so you could speed up walking / running but slow down slide. Also jump shotting should also get the same treatment as drop shotting. Sound design : Like content creators have said footstep audio is great as you can actually tell which way the enemy is coming from but it is too loud and should be altered, other than that the sound design is actually pretty boring, guns don't sound great nor satisfying, overall ambience sound really bad. Weapon balance: I kept hearing from content creators that the weapon balance was mostly great apart from the ak74u ( insert "well that was a fucking lie" meme here ). The balance was AWFUL in this version, all SMGs were so much more powerful than ARs and LMGs with the ak74u being the all around amazing gun and the uzi (can't remember in game name) was fucking insane and even more powerful, the mp5 was really good up but I felt it ran out of ammo too fast, ARs all felt the same, they were good and usable but there was no need to pick them over SMGs and the LMGs were just worse version of ARs. Snipers were powerful but apparently there getting nerfed. Type 63 was also insane and pretty much a must for combined arms. Another thing is that in my experience, damage range was pretty much the same for all weapons, I got killed instantly across the map on miami with an ak74u. Maps: This I am happy to say is great, I liked all maps in this alpha and hope the rest will be at least just as good, they all seem to flow really well, I will however say that objective modes feel awful on these new maps, as an objective player it felt completely useless to go for objectives. Spawns were also really bad on domination which lead to a lot spawn camping but were pretty good on all other game modes. I'm going to be honest, I did not enjoy the alpha but I am still going to be optimistic as I still really like what I have been hearing. Also it is very clear that Treyarch got dealt the worst hand in COD dev history with having 1 year less to develop, having to pick up after sledgehammer AND deal with a pandemic all at the same time. I'm hearing a lot of people are really enjoying the game and thats great, I really hope treyarch won't be left in the dust simply because they've been dealing with that awful situation. I hope the best for BOCW but for me it still has quite a lot of work on it.
Welcome to GoatZone. Goatzone is an Avatar inspired minecraft java edition server where you get to choose one of the 4 elements to bend. Each element live within their own cities and nations. We try to make the server as lore accurate as possible and the server has cities and nations placed accuratelly on the map. Together we build as different nations to create the cities we know and love from the Avatar series. You may optionally also be a non bender if you choose it, or perhaps be a chi blocker if you rather be that instead of bending the elements? Each nation has a Leader, for example the Fire Lord/Lady, or Earth king/queen and so on. They lead the nation and decide how it is ruled. Each nation has laws that need to be followed, which are set by the leader, or in some cases by a democracy. Some leaders chose to make their nation a democracy. How a nation is made and ruled is in the players hands essentially. Each month 1 Avatar is randomly chosen, this player will get to learn all of the 4 elements. They need to find a teacher who can teach them the elements they want to learn. To do this they need to travel the world and visit different nations to find them selves a teacher. The Avatar can also enter the Avatar state and energybend. Every Avatar also get their own Statue that will stay with the server forever in the Avatar statue area. On top of this we also have a 4th custom dimenstion, being the Spirit world. In the Spirit world, spirits live, and to enter it you need to go on a spirit journey alongside the Avatar. In the Spirit world all kinds of weird things may happen. The world looks different, there's new biomes, the weather is different, time works different. You can also find a number of new structures that can be generated in the Spirit world. GoatZone is completelly free and requires no mods at all and can be played on version 1.16.1! Now we want to invite You on our journey, to build and create the world we all know and love. We are also in need of many new Staff members, and the staff applications are open. Apply to GoatZone[Here] Server Rules Use common sense No racism No sexism No hacking No exploiting possible server flaws Listen to staff members! Abusing the /support command is not allowed. Only airbenders may use Elytras, using them as a none airbender is concidered failrp. No Griefing Killing is not allowed within civilisation, meaning, as long as you are close to any building, people can not kill you. You may also not kill people from your own nation, unless challenged first! You have to live within the proximity of your elements nation. None benders may live in any nation, same goes for Chi Blockers. The only exception is if you marry someone from another nation, then you may live in either one of those nations. All benders may live in Republic city. Marriage needs to be approved by a Moderator+. If you want to get married, you need their approval. The reason for this is that Marriage as a "meme" or to gain a benefit is not allowed. Marriage is an rp function and should only be used for rp relationships, or for real relationships. Marrying without mod+ approval is failrp. You may not kill a ruler simpelly because you wanna take their power. In order to take down a ruler you need to establish a rebelion, with a legitimate reason. Fake reasons will not be allowed. I suggest asking a moderator+ to see if your rebelion would be approved. Killing a ruler for no legitimate reason, is failrp. The avatar may not use warps between cities when learning to bend the 4 elements, the avatar have to walk between the nations on foot, or have a trainer walk to them. The Avatar may only energybend in the Avatar state. While not all energybending technically require it, this rule is set to encourage the Avatar to use the Avatar state. No bullying or insults, you can have friendly banter, or joke around, but as soon as it becomes pure insults and just attacking somebody, that is not okay. If somebody ask you to stop, you need to stop. Naming items the same name as a Crate drop, in an anvil to change their textures in to a Crate item is not allowed. All authentic Crate drops have lore saying their rarity. This also applies to limited items. Simpelly put, changing item textures in an anvil is not allowed. No weapons in Player VS Player combat, unless first agreed upon! The exception to this rule is of course Non-benders, Chi-Blockers and Kyoshi warriors who are allowed to use weapons and tools in combat. No pets in combat unless first agreed upon. It does not matter if it is in wilderness PVP, or in an agreed challenge, if not agreed upon before, pets are not allowed in the combat. No Wreckless bending, such as using phasechange around ice buildings, firebending next to flameable buildings, or using collapse around earth buildings. Firejet leaves fire behind, you can not shoot off roofs like a rocket, you will light the houses on fire! Apply to GoatZone[Here]
2020.09.19 12:54 Amicus-RegisIzzet Wizards are going to Shock the meta
You get it? Like the card [[Shock]]? Which is in this Izzet Wizards list right here? I'm funny damnit. Now I know I said Dimir Mill was going to be the defacto Tier 0 deck with the release of Zendikar Rising, but let's be honest: there's room in that tier for 2 of the best decks in the format to exist, right? How many numbers fit into 0 again? Well anyways that doesn't matter; what does matter is this hot (DO YOU GET IT YET?) take on Wizards with the release of [[Sea Gate Stormcaller]]. Now, at first I thought Stormcaller was an alright card. From my perspective you'd almost never want to use its kicker for anything, but thankfully you don't have to kick the bitch to get her to do her job. No, all you have to do is resolve her, and she'll double the next <2 CMC Instant or Sorcery you would cast that turn. This works amazingly with Shock or [[Wild Slash]], turning them into 4 damage and a body for just 3 mana and 2 cards. In addition, with the inclusion of [[Dreadhorde Arcanist]] in the deck she can also double spells re-used with Arcanist during combat, since her effect takes place at any point in the turn when you would cast your first instant/sorcery. Plus she's a Wizard for [[Wizard's Lightning]] (though she can't double that) and [[Adeliz, the Cinder Wind]], so that's always helpful. Now some of you degenerates may be thinking "hurr durr where's the [[Warlord's Fury]]? Where's the [[Crash Through]]? Deck BAD" but look at our spicy bois (and girls). A good enough amount of them have some kind of evasion (or Trample in the case of Arcanist) that I really don't think we need a board-wide evasion cantrip in our already air-tight package. Instead we run [[Renegade Tactics]] for that one troublesome blocker here or there we might run into. Bonus points for re-using it with Arcanist to essentially instant-speed stop a blocker, or using it with Stormcaller to stop two blockers. But really, why should I get so worked up about this deck? I mean after all, it's just aggro with extra steps, right? Well yes, but actually no. This is aggro, but with consistency. The amount of value generated from our Wizards doubling the use of our cantrips, combined with [[Light up the Stage]] and the new [[Shatterskull Smashing]] that acts as either a land or a last-ditch removal spell for up to two creatures (which can be doubled because it's CMC is technically 2 lol) means we're aggro, but wItH gAs bAbY! 2020.09.18 03:31 LuckypawpsPeople Who Get the COVID Vaccine Shouldn't Have to Adhere to Social Distancing Measures
I have worn a mask ever since it was mandatory, I have refrained from large gatherings and I didn't see any of my friends during the hard lockdown. I believe COVID is real and I believe it poses a legitimate risk to many people, and I want life to return to its previous status as quickly as possible. I know there is a lot of contention with regard to the safety of the vaccine (especially in the US where I am) but I think it will probably be a net positive for the majority of people and I am ready to volunteer and see if that's the case. I don't trust our government at all but I do trust scientists and healthcare professionals and if they approve, I'm all for being a guinea pig. My favorite way to spend my free time and money is on concerts, festivals, and raves. Not being able to attends these for the past 6 + months has really made me wonder why I wake up and go to work every day because I'm no longer looking forward to my next concert. I understand there are many people who will need to be hospitalized if they contract COVID but as a young, healthy, 23 year old, I likely won't need to be. Look, I love old people. I love my grandparents. And that's why they should continue quarantining until it's safe for them, but you're only young once and they had their chance, and this is mine. And to be honest, if the roles were reversed and this virus was disproportionately killing off young people; I don't think the boomers/silent generation would care. They'd probably just call us snowflakes and tell us how they didn't have the polio vaccine when they were kids, and continue going about their normal lives of packing into Cracker Barrel and turning up at Bing-O Night. So, as soon as that vaccine becomes available, I'll be first in line. Then I will set all of my masks on fire, go to Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Lost Lands, Imagine, EDC, or any abandoned warehouse rave near me. I'll dive face first into a port-o-john and then have an orgy with all of the other heathens in attendance. I know the left can't meme and all, but when they start advertising the vaccine their slogan should be: GET A VACCINE; END THE QUARANTINE
2020.09.18 00:04 TimeLordHatKid123Random Light Hearted Hot Take: I think Kaede was technically more competent than all the other main series protags combined (Debate, SPOILERS)
Now I know most people probably get sick of what I assume is the ever so common post about how Kaede should have been the real protag, and I agree with that, but thats not what this post is about. I instead wish to discuss, based on the criminally limited info, the comparison between Kaede, Shuichi, Makoto, and Hajime. DISCLAIMER: Let me make something clear, I am aware that EVENTUALLY the latter three became geniuses, and even started out decently enough once they worked up the nerve to solve the cases they were in. I also know that they have more visible competence and development over time. What I am doing is presenting the idea that Kaede, without need of super special murder-relevant talents, was a competent and strong leader in spite of her fatal error in planning, and why she would have made a good protagonist because of it, plus her personality. DISCLAIMER 2: Before I hear this argument for the millionth time, please don't go "but what about Makoto's sister!?", this is a common misconception you guys keep making and this needs to be communicated better. Makoto's sister is from a spinoff game that has nothing to do with the main series core gameplay, and is only related via the storyline. She is not the protagonist of a killing game, please understand this better going forward. Thank you. Now then, lets compare the four main game protags! Makoto: The most standard milquetoast protag of them all. He's the new kid, the lucky student, the out of touch scrawny nerd who rises above his initial weakness. He was never dumb, but he was clearly unprepared to solve a mystery, and yet with a small push from Kyoko and some excellent deduction skills, he managed to rise above the assumptions that he did the deed and solve his first mystery. Makoto's main issue is that he's out of his element, even more than Hajime in a way, and that he was a frail and unassuming school boy who just wanted to do good in school and become successful, basic as can be. Hajime: The oddball of the four. Despite his twist by the end of the game, he started out as an awkward weirdo who had to calm his jittery nerves and focus. When "not Byakuya" bit the dust, he scrambled almost as much as Makoto. Yet, like Makoto, he slowly developed his skills over time, and managed to tough it out and get through everyone's bullshit, especially Nagito's. His main problem is how awkward and cynical he is at times, and while more of a realist than Makoto, he also succumbs to more of his... "instincts" than he does. At least he isnt so optimistic it becomes naivety, for there is a difference between the two. Shuichi: The actual professional of the four. Shuichi has the greatest possible advantage of all four protagonists, and he's well within his right to be. He starts out with great problem solving and deduction skills that naturally grow over time due to how naturally it comes to him and his profession. He's a better learner, and has hands-on experience with training and education, making him the ideal protagonist we always (probably) wanted. His issues are crippling lack of self confidence, and comparison to everyone around him, even more than Makoto. Kaede: The one who should have lived. Kaede was by and large the most unique and interesting of the four, and she sadly gets some backlash to counter the love she gets. People will often say she's too perfect and gung ho, especially this early on. I argue that she isnt perfect, and if she were, she wouldnt have made the biggest fuck up of any protagonist in the franchise, which results in her own death, in CHAPTER 1! She's upbeat but not too naive, she's down to earth but not too crass or cynical, and even if she has personal doubts, she is also a beacon of inspiration to those around her. The problem with Kaede was that despite these traits, she made a fatal error in her plans and got killed for it. I wish I could point out more flaws, but she didnt live long enough to show us many of them. This isnt me being a favoritist, I legit cant find many more flaws beyond her over-exciteable nature in the killing game that led to her getting killed. Something that could have gotten her in constant trouble and nearly killed, and slowly broke her down until her optimism was tempered way better, is what her gung ho nature should have been. So I say that Kaede was competent in comparison, but not by a giant margin. Rather, she was unique and competent in a very general fashion. Though she lacks the odd cynicism of Hajime, the calm demeanor of Makoto, and the actual professional skills of Shuichi, she tempers herself well as an inspiring leader who can protect her fellows and, well, it helps that she isnt YET ANOTHER milquetoast wimp like the other three, which is refreshing. In short, I'm not throwing shade at anyone on this list, just generating discussion. What do you guys think? Edit: The wimp comment is a meme and a joke, sorry about not making that clearer!
Do you ever get these wild 'what if' scenarios in your head? Well this was one for me. As most would agree, the cola wars are over, Coca-Cola having edged out its competition and established a global empire over the soft drinks market. Unexpectedly however, things changed when humans made first contact with alien lifeforms. This is that story. Initially, there was much panic, looting, rioting and all the beautiful reactions of civil unrest when monkeys experience change they cannot comprehend. After a few rounds of talking, it became clear that the aliens were coming mostly in peace. We lacked behind them technologically but they were still interested in seeing some of our products, hoping to trade. Many found it hard to look at the aliens however, seeing as they looked like giants ants at just under 2 meters tall. Identifying themselves as Khenoid, these ant-like aliens lived on twenty-two different planets and preferred warmer climates. The main reason for their voyage in our world had been to look at a possible planet to live on, Mars having been a good candidate at the time of their survey. In order to receive our guests and try to showcase the best we had to offer, a large world fair was organized. Reminiscent of the world expo back in 1967, every country, company, and whoever you could think of, decided to attend and try to woo the aliens into what could be the most lucrative contract in the history of the world. A total of 555 Khenoids, considered a lucky number for them, descended upon the Earth expo located in Saskatchewan Canada. The location had been chosen because of the large amount of available land area and facility of construction due to the even geography. Some countries objected initially but realized that if something went wrong, they wouldn’t have to take any blame and were able to be swayed; not to mention the burden of costs for security, construction and accommodations. Many large companies went all out to display their products, Lockheed Martin reserving a large empty area to show weapons tests, Amazon and Tesla building large warehouses where they showed their innovations and smaller companies opting for booth-sized presentations. Not much drew the interest of the Khenoid, most of our inventions not filling any need for them or being far too primitive. Xikraks, one of the ambassadors from the Buchustea colony planet, wandered away from the main exposition exhibit, feeling rather thirsty and not seeing an immediately available water source. A large part of the expo had largely gone unnoticed and was free of any Khenoid presence. The food and beverage section had been ignored by all Khenoids, the general consensus being that food was food and worth nothing. Ambassador Xikraks entered the food court and headed to the closest counter, a blue, white and red logo plastered above it. The clerk behind the counter was pleasantly surprised to see an alien, even though it was somewhat intimidating and tried her best to pitch a sale. Xikraks looked over the visual menu, seeing an assortment of beverages, not knowing what each was like. ‘Cherry’ flavored was a bit of useless information when you didn’t know what a cherry was or tasted like. “Hello! Welcome to the Pepsi booth. Everything is free for our special guests for the duration of this expo. What can I get you?” “What are these exactly?” asked Xikraks. “Well, they’re soft drinks. To be more precise, it’s carbonated water with flavoring, they taste sweet.” Replied the clerk. Xikraks perked up at the mention of sweet. Sugar water combinations were some of the most popular drink choices back on his home planet. “I’m intrigued. Let’s try your most popular one then.” “Classic Pepsi it is then.” The clerk turned around, grabbing a glass bottle of Pepsi from the double doored cooler and placing it on the counter in front of her. Glancing at the alien however, she noticed it might have trouble opening it and proceeded to pop the cap off. Xikraks brought the bottle to his face, sniffing it. The sweet smell of sugar reached his nostrils, invigorating him and making his antenna twitch. He tilted the bottle slightly just beyond his mandibles in a small motion, only enough to get a taste, the liquid quickly poured down his maw. His whole body began trembling, the glass bottle dropping from his hand and shattering as he convulsed and shook. The clerk watched with horror on her face, thinking he had an allergic reaction and reached for a telephone to call for help. She paused when the Khenoid went to the ground and began sucking up the Pepsi from the floor. Once the liquid contents were gone, it raised itself and leaned on the counter, looking with wide open eyes at the contents of the cooler. “I must have more!” Xikraks yelled, emotions getting the better of him. Nervously, the clerk reached back and opened another bottle, handing it to him with the tips of her fingers. He grabbed it swiftly, downing the contents in one gulp, the sugary beverage awakening unknown feelings of pleasure in him. “More.” He uttered a single word and the clerk obliged, keeping him with a full one at the ready. After the ninth one, he slowed, merely sitting down and looking around in a dazed state. Getting a small break, the clerk reached for her phone and called her manager. “Listen, we have an issue here. This Khenoid is guzzling down all the product, he’s almost aggressive about it.” “What? Okay hold on, I’m sending someone to help you out.” assured her manager. "Meanwhile, keep him drinking if he likes it so much. I'm going to call corporate to let them know." Xikraks closed his eyes, feeling the euphoria from his sugar induced trance slowly pass and calmed down all the excess energy now at his disposal. Nothing back home compared to this sensation, it seemed humans had something worthwhile to trade for afterall. If he secured the recipe to this product, multiple generations of his offsprings would be set for life. Xikraks inhaled deeply and composed himself, he turned to face the clerk and spoke. "I must speak to a superior. I wish to arrange a deal for this product." "I called him a few minutes ago, he should come soon. Did you want to try some of the other savors?" She pointed to the orange, pink and brown cans. Xikraks mandibles clacked happily together at the prospect of trying more of the succulent beverages. While he tried the various different drinks, crush grape being his favorite for now, a few humans wearing the same logo that was on the booth showed up. Two of the humans went behind the counter of the booth, one of them pushing a metal device on wheels that carried cases of the product. A slightly taller human with facial hair approached Xikraks and began talking to him while the others worked."Hello esteemed guest. We hope you're enjoying our Pepsico products?" Xikraks stopped paying attention to the human speaking, instead turning his gaze to those unloading boxes of the magical drink into the refrigerated unit. He was fairly certain that others would love the beverage as much as he did but it would be safer if he could get a proper sample size. "May I bring those with me? I believe the crew aboard my ship would be interested in trying this." Xikraks asked for the whole metal carrying device's load, hoping the human would settle down for half. The human rubbed its chin, looking the Khenoid up and down. "Hmm, I suppose I can count this as a promotional expense. Change of plan guys, follow our esteemed guest and deliver the merchandise there." They're letting me have the whole thing?! Do they not realize the worth of this? Not to ruin his good fortune, Xikraks rubbed his appendages together, quickly leading the way to his ship as the humans followed him. "Are you sure we can just give away all of it like that?" Asked the clerk to her manager. "Of course. This is like 200$ worth of product only. There are billions of these Khenoids out there, if we can service even 10% of them, corporate would be delighted." If I get 3.5% commission as usual, my god… "You said he looked like he really enjoyed it?" The manager asked the clerk. "Oh yeah. The first sip surprised hi-, it, and the bottle dropped to the floor. It proceeded to suck it all up." The clerk pointed out the small stains on the floor. "Hmmm, interesting. Well, just in case, I'll make arrangements to have three more staff out here to help you and I'll get a shipment diverted here." Aboard the Khenoid ship, the pepsi lasted a mere two hours after Xikraks gave some to three crew members who spread the news and the demand far out stripped the supply. Of the 555 confirmed ambassadors, traders and various influential Khenoids, many thousands were crew aboard the ships and not meant to disembark. That didn't stop them however and they poured out of the ship, a swarm of large ants running straight for the cafeteria. Naturally, those aboard the other ships wondered what the commotion was and reached out to friends or acquaintances that were currently running. Pepsi fever ended up spreading to them as well and they soon joined the crowd. The staff of three at the pepsi booth were not prepared and panicked. The Khenoid surrounded them in short order however and there was nowhere they could go. At this point, although numerous, the Khenoids were still polite and formed orderly lines. With no other choice, the Pepsico staff began serving all the customers present, indicating to them that a limit of one serving per customer would be observed. Customer was a bit of a stretch as they paid nothing but it helped speed up the service since they merely handed out drinks without needing to secure payment. The Pepsico manager stared in shock from his seat as the crowd swallowed the small booth. Leaving his pizza slice on the table, he tried to get closer while dialing for his employee with his mobile phone. "Sarah? Can you hear me? What's going on?" "Boss! There's hundreds of them and they all want pepsi! We don't have enough!" "Hang in there. The truck will be here in 15 minutes." He hung up and dialed the truck driver. "Hey Jerry? We have an issue. I need you to come straight to the booth. I don't care that you aren't allowed, I'll deal with it. Once you get here, exit the truck and run okay?" By this point, security became aware of the commotion and began trying to establish order with little to no effect, the Khenoid essentially not listening to them. Up front, at the booth, the pepsi finally ran out and the staff were trying to convey that to the crowd. Frustrated Khenoid who had waited but not been served shouted their displeasure, some of them banging on the booth with their limbs. The three humans huddled together and crouched behind the counter, crying and unsure what to do. The truck finally arrived, driving over the sidewalk, its horn blaring to tell people to get out of the way. It stopped outside the cafeteria, in plain view of the Khenoid who couldn't enter and were waiting outside in line. When they saw the familiar logo on the vehicle they rushed to it, the driver having already exited the vehicle and flung the rear doors open, revealing stacked pallets of the product. The Khenoid dragged down the pallets, ripping away the plastic film that surrounded the product to get to the precious cans. The ones inside soon realized their brethren had surged to somewhere else and followed suit. So thick was the crowd surrounding the pepsi van that those on the side of the vehicle clawed at the metal exterior, managing to rip a hole and reach at the pallets in the back of the van. The security forces did not want to escalate the situation, possibly instigating a galactic war and instead left it up to the military who rounded the Khenoid up, using zip ties to control them. Most offered no resistance, having had their fill of sugar and simply laid down to relax. The dangerous ones were those that hadn't had any and those that had simply a little bit. They were the most aggressive and had necessitated the use of pepper spray and tasers. A little over ten hours later, Khenoid leaders met with their human counterparts at an emergency meeting. In attendance were human G7 leaders, the CEO of Pepsico and the sole Khenoid that did not participate in the riots, an ambassador named Xikraks. Found sleeping inside one of the ships, the ambassador was apprised of the situation involving his species and deemed the only one coherent enough to represent them. "Greetings ambassador." Started one of the humans at the table. "Do not worry, we will not demand reparations since no one was seriously injured but we would like to know what happened." If he could sweat, Xikraks would have been absolutely drenched at that moment. "No losses?! What about our losses!" Demanded the Pepsico CEO. "One truck, nearly 20,000$ of product not to mention the emotional damages my employees have suffered." "Don't mind him ambassador, we will deal with him." Assured one of the humans. "I believe what happened was a sugar induced euphoria. We Khenoid mostly consume plant matter for energy but it is not uncommon for us to partake of sugary water to give a small boost. " explained Xikraks. "And usually, how much sugar is in the water you consume?" Asked the Canadian Prime Minister. "Hmmm, in human measurements it would be around 8 grams I believe?" "How much of an effect would it be if you consumed ten times as much?" The question came from the American president this time. "Err well, quite catastrophic I would say. Many would have excess energy to expend or become unruly. If the amount kep5 increasing they would likely fall into a sugar induced coma." Xikraks barely remembered what happened after he fell in a coma himself last night. "The pheromones released by this would put others in a more excited state as well." "So it's like if you were all drunk?" Wondered the German chancellor. "In a manner of speaking, yes. Most would experience immense shame and regret for their actions. I would like to take this moment to apologize on behalf of my species. Something like this shouldn't have happened. Everyone involved will be disciplined back home, I can assure you of that. However, I must ask if you would be willing to trade the recipe for this product?" Xikraks rubbed his appendages together after he finished speaking. "I'm afraid we can't divulge our recipes. That would ruin our company." Insisted the CEO of Pepsico. "We would be willing however, to manufacture and trade large volumes of it." "Hmmm, interesting. However humans don't have FTL technology correct? Perhaps we could trade the designs to our FTL technology for the recipe?" Suggested Xikraks. The human leaders could barely contain their reactions, finding themselves agreeing to the proposal. "Wait a minute, it's not yours to give. That's a fairly decent offer indeed but our company specializes in beverages, it could be years before we see returns from FTL technology and that's assuming we find a buyer." Replied the Pepsico CEO. The CEO rubbed his chin, thinking of a way to make this work. "Well, what about ships? You probably have a few. We could use some to make deliveries, maybe sell one or two off to the governments so they can work on studying the technology." "I believe we can negotiate something like this, yes." Xikraks remembered some of the older ships they were ready to decommission back home. "Excellent, let's continue this conversation somewhere more private then." The CEO stood up, inviting the Khenoid to follow him. As they say, the rest is history. The Pepsico fleet remained the most advanced and largest human fleet for nearly three decades after this historic trade deal and is still relevant to this day, protecting the hundreds of transport ships that leave monthly to the twenty-two Khenoid colonies, transporting the much sought after pepsi. For planet Earth, Coke remains supreme but elsewhere in the Galaxy; Ici C’est Pepsi. Threw this together rapidly so no editing was done. You will probably find some errors, this isn't going to be a great work or anything it's a meme if anything lol. Still, hope some enjoyed it! Edit: same theme, different take. +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Admiral Nberum beamed with pride as the enemy ship finally drifted dead in space. The battle had been a glorious one and it had taken the whole might of the empire to subdue it. The alien ship was larger than anything they'd thought possible and was so thickly armored that their weapons had needed to focus their fire to inflict any damage to it. Three cruisers, four destroyers and twenty-eight frigates lay destroyed from the enemy dreadnought's weapons. Nearly 20,000 souls would not see home again. It saddened admiral Nberum that such losses had to be taken in order to stop the aliens. "Ready to board sir!" Exclaimed enthusiasticly one of his junior officers. Admiral Nberum nodded, it was time to take over the ship indeed. The large round red insignia painted on the side of the ship was daunting, likely meant to intimidate its foes. He wondered if it was the symbol of their navy or perhaps their planet. They would have plenty of time to interrogate the survivors. He gave the order, a dozen troop transport ships griped the alien ship and began entering through various hull breaches. "I want the highest surviving officer brought to me in the brig. I also need Mawathzy to help with the interrogation." The officers acknowledged his orders and began making the preparations and relaying his orders. A few hours later, the marines who stormed the enemy ship brought back a single alien. It was slightly taller than them and wore clothing that matched the symbol found on it's ship. "Strap him down over there." Ordered the Admiral. They complied, the creature offering little to no resistance. Mawathzy seated herself next to him, ready to begin the mind reading. It always made Nberum shiver when he was in the presence of those with psychic powers but they were too useful to shun. "What is it's name, species and rank?" Asked the admiral. "It is … James Corden. A human. He is a … Acquisitions Manager." Odd title. Is their society perhaps without order? Where those with power take what they wish? "What are they doing here?" The admiral crossed his arms, looking menacingly at the creature. "They are … searching for a planet with high volumes of water." Replied the psychic. Even more odd. Is this an exploration vessel? That wouldn't make sense... "What will they do once they find it?" "Exploit the water to create … coke?" Admiral Nberum scratched his head. "What is coke?" "It is … a beverage that they consume." She replied after scanning the human’s mind again. "Okay. Well moving on, where is their homeworld?" "It is … many light years away. It is hard to comprehend his visualization of space." "Hmmm, what can he tell me about the ship?" "The ship is … the newest model of the Coca-Cola company, named … TRSP-008." Every question answered only served to pose more questions. Admiral Nberum was getting impatient now. "What is the Coca-Cola company?!" "It is … his employer. A … business which makes beverages." "What? Get me the soldiers aboard the enemy ship on comms." "Yes sir, what can we do for you?" Came the reply from the soldiers. "What did you find on the enemy ship, soldier?" "A large section of the ship seemed to be dedicated to storage. These large metal crates all contain the same thing. We haven't opened them yet, however." Replied the soldier. Admiral Nberum swallowed hard, the realization setting in and getting ready to ask his next series of questions. He looked at Mawathy and spoke with seriousness. "Do you represent your people?" "No, he does not." "Is your vessel one of war?" "... no, it is not." "Is anyone coming to your rescue?" "Yes, the full might of the Terran empire."
2020.09.17 18:23 ViouletteOk, Groomer and Other Tactics
Whew. Do we ladies have a challenge ahead of us security a promising world for ourselves and our children. I love all the discourse that we have and the memes but there is one meme in particular that FDS should coin and flood the internet with.
Simple, yet sweet and unforgiving. Totally work appropriate. Any N/LVM patriarchal husbandry war tactics should appropriately be called out by this meme. Girls and women alike are groomed by men at large. Let's keep calling them out. LVM refuses to take you out on a proper date and wants to haggle you down to a walk date? Okay, Groomer. LVM says that ChEmIsTrY is important and something that should be established early on sans any vetting or commitment? Ok, Groomer. Give no room for a low life to invade your mind space with their sanctimonious drivel. They are groomers; the lowest life form. This next one gets personal. It's no big secret that men commit depravity and sexual crimes with the audacity of believing they are above moral law. FDS should not allow men like this to walk free. Ladies, we need to catalog every N/LVM and their histories for the sake of the sisterhood. That's right ladies, whenever you go on a date consider yourself an ambassador for all of woman kind. We'll catalogue pictures and information of men who are trash, then make it available for any FDSer to perview. Let's save ourselves the time ladies: if he is on the list do not even bother engaging with him. Most LVM are easy to spot FDS style but we shouldn't forget about them 10 years later. Men don't change. OLD makes this especialy easy since most men put their faces up and beyond that incriminate themselves very readily. FDS can make dating easier again. Frankly, I don't know what we'd call this list and if FDS would rather it be done by an entity outside of themselves that's fair. The list would reman secret and annonymous just like the involuntary sexual content men share, tade, and sell of women. Generations down the line as FDS queens assume their throne we'll not only see a stark constrast in lifestyle outcomes bewtween HVW/HVM and LVW/LVM relationships but we'll have a database to back it all up - for science.
2020.09.17 13:21 Tastes-JammyAnyone switching platform this upcoming gen and why?
I have always been a PC gamer, I love it. I also have my PS4 and Switch for exclusives and have always enjoyed them alongside but now I am strongly debating taking the switch over to PS5 for my main gaming platform this November. I do love my PC but now I am getting older I don't enjoy it like I once did for many reasons. I have a young child so I only find time in the evenings to game so having a console could be handy for the rest mode if I got a chance in the day. I don't really play that many shooters anymore. I also don't really enjoy sitting at a desk. With this next generation being a great bit of kit for the price I am strongly debating taking this leap over. Plus with Epic paying for all these exclusives it bugs my OCD that I can't have my games in one place and I hate having all these launchers. The biggest reason though being all my friends will be on PS4/5 and I tend to game alone on my desktop, so I want to start enjoying multiplayer games with friends again. Anyone else moving platform next generation and what are your reasons? I see all these memes and posts being horrid towards others choice of platforms and it makes me feel guilty for just simply wanting to enjoy games.
2020.09.16 02:52 RealkersA Creative Discussion on the Quarterback Situation
In an attempt to stir up something more substantial in how it relates to the current Jimmy discussion, I wanted to put forth some interesting ideas (involving Jimmy and not) so that we could simply think about the road ahead. The NFL is extremely hard to predict, but as fans of the 49ers, I believe we'd all like to examine the future and imagine those in which we win another Lombardi. I like the memes too, don't get me wrong, but I'm not a huge fan of the tiny whining posts. Let's try to make something with a little more meat to it. Now, be warned. There will be extremely unpopular OPINIONS below. But, if you don't like hot takes, stay out of Real's kitchen. That's what I always say... or at least, I'm saying it now... okay, I won't say it again. Anyways, here we go. Other Options - Part 1: That's right, I said it. Here are things as I see it.
We continue to play with Jimmy G at the helm. Look, this is NOT a doomsday opinion because we lost the opener, it's the way I've personally felt since last season. This guy isn't going to win a Super Bowl of his own volition. If we win a Super Bowl with him (I am agreeing that it's possible, by the way), it would ultimately in spite of his ability, not because of it. It's not as bad as having Trent Dilfer at QB, so if he can win one maybe Jimmy can too, but he's just simply not this out of the world potential talent that people once thought he could grow into. I am of the opinion that he essentially played at his cap at the end of 2017 when we thought that was his floor and believed he would grow tremendously. The reality is... he's okay. He might even be the new Dalton line, to be honest. He's better than other starters in the league, but we also have probably the easiest starting QB job in the entire National Football League. Our team is fucking stacked at a lot of key positions. The QB here is asked to throw with a quick release in the short to intermediate range in fairly open lanes. This is often times due to Shanahan's WR philosophy of "one can be schemed into an open look, what matters more is what is done once the ball is in your hands." Here are some of the other requirements of being the 49ers QB - do NOT take a sack if it can be helped, do NOT be inaccurate on these short range passes, and be smart enough to absorb this playbook. Compared to every single starting QB job in the league, it's less responsibility. The only exception MIGHT be the Titans and Tannehill's position, but only because their offense is far more rudimentary in it's application, largely because they have a Henry. It works for them, I'm not knocking the Titans at all, Shanahan's offense is just objectively more intricate. Now, be honest, even a guy like Gardner Minshew (who seems pretty good honestly!) is asked to do more than Jimmy is here. Jimmy often times struggles to meet those requirements (specifically, inconsistent accuracy) while excelling at his quick release, which ultimately doesn't matter if you aren't accurate, as well as his smarts. Jimmy is a smart guy, scoring 29 on the Wonderlic. Just how important is the Wonderlic for QB's? It's debatable. Lamar Jackson scored a 13. What isn't debatable is that counting Mahomes, the last 10 Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks — Tom Brady (33), Nick Foles (29), Peyton Manning (28), Russell Wilson (28), Joe Flacco (27), Eli Manning (39), Aaron Rodgers (35), Drew Brees (28) and Ben Roethlisberger (25) — had an average Wonderlic score of 29.6. I'd argue it's probably more important for one of the hardest playbooks in the league. Now, IF this is the option, I think the absolute best way to go about it is to pay Jimmy in a bracket that makes us reach a sweet spot in between of paying a rookie QB and resetting the market for your franchise guy. I don't think the $27.5m average is worth it for ol' Jimbo even if the top tier QB's keep making more and more money. He simply doesn't belong in that category or conversation. I'm not sure what exactly this figure should be, but it is probably in the $19m to $25m range for a per year average, but obviously it all depends on a multitude of things (how much QB contracts continue to trend up, how far the cap drops and what it's at when you got to extend him, etc.) Currently, he's on the books for $23.8m this year, and $24.1 in 2021, and $24.2 in 2022. The ultimate idea here is that if we can't have an upper echelon QB, he should be paid less than he currently is, and that way we can at least try to stay stacked in as many positions as financially possible. At any higher a dollar figure, I'd have a tough time not thinking it'd be better to draft a kid that costs like $4m - $7m a year and going aggressive in free agency for years to come.
Other Options - Part 2: Now, here's where it's actually actually gets real spicy boys, buckle up.
If Rodgers wants to leave Green Bay, we're obviously the prime candidate and I'm highly interested even if it's only for a season or two. This would be one of, if not, the best team he's ever been on. Granted, he's probably gonna light it up this year and they'll just let Love rot on the bench behind him if they have to. Like brady, I don't think he'll leave until he's over the hill, if he does leave at all. Despite their apparent rift (Rodgers and Green Bay's management) they'll eventually trade bait Love and draft someone else to be the heir in a few years. Rodgers still has seasons (plural) of top 3-5 QB left in him, in my opinion. I'd bet a lot of chicken nuggets that he'd bring a Super Bowl to The Bay with this roster.
If the Browns get smoked on Thursday and they initiate "Lose for Lawrence" protocol and ditch the sunk-cost fallacy due to the recent Arizona Cardinals successful model of doing so, I'd love to have Baker Mayfield. There, I said it. Hammer me for it, go ahead. Let me hear it - "Baker sucks!" "He's washed!" "What a trashcan!" "Can't pass to OBJ and Landry wtf is he gonna do here?!" Ok, shut up and let me tell you. I like this kid. I know his mentality/demeanor might not be your thing, but let me tell you one thing that might change your mind even just a little bit - it's not an act for him. The dude has a genuine and strong-willed belief that he can be the best. Despite the cliche, I think that (while it can manifest in many different ways) trait is borderline required to be "that guy" in the National Football League. Wilson, Mahomes, Lamar, they all do it different ways. Wilson through copious amounts of seemingly (but probably, not really) kinda fake "goodness" and miracle water sales. Lamar just has Mark Ingram say it all for him. Mahomes has his ketchup on steak swagger. If you want to compare Baker's demeanor to any current top QB, it's honestly probably Rodgers. Lots of people don't like Rodgers cause he's kinda an arrogant prick sometimes. Baker is similar. Regardless of how successful he has been so far and therefore can't back it up yet, that didn't seem to matter to Rodgers either when he said he'd make us regret not drafting him before he ever played a down in the league. Now, onto his play. I watched this guy in person a couple of times while visiting my brother who was going to OU during Baker's reign. I think he's legit. His arm is actually pretty powerful (somehow this has become a flipped narrative on /nfl lately) and I've personally seen him overthrow a receiver that was slowing down because of a whistle (during Baker's windup so he let it loose anyways) uncorking an absolutely BEAUTIFUL 70 yarder. He sits low into his throw really naturally and, memes aside, the boy has a THICC rear end so he can really get down and generate power from below and through the hips like you're supposed to. Here's the problem though - he's not playing well right now. Why? Well, part of it is his Alex Smith-esque cast of Duck Duck Goose OC's and HC's (I believe he set the record for the most changes this early in his career in the off season). I think another large part of it is the toxic football relationship he has with OBJ and attempting to feed him. That's just my opinion, but let's at least look at some stats. At OU, he was extremely accurate. 68.1%, 70.9%, and 70.5% in his 3 years there. That puts him in the same range as Drew "The Wild Midget" Brees and "The Sons of Drew Brees" (otherwise known as guys that aren't trusted to make hard throws, lol)
2019 Completion % Rankings
1. Drew Brees
2. Derek Carr
3. Ryan Tannehill
4. Jimmy Garoppolo
5. Kirk Cousins
31. Baker Mayfield
Now, let's analyze this a bit. First of all, one of these guys is not like the other. Drew Brees. He pretty much consistently shits on everybody with 70%+ and the other top guys that year are usually a full couple of percent lower than him (been that way since like 2017). I'm not sure if it will be the same this year, but he's adapted with his age to continue to make even shorter, and more sure-fire throws. Brees is great.
Second of all, look at the rest of the names, any pattern here? These are all guys that are largely asked to do less, to varying degrees, than most QB's. They also have good run games. Carr has Jacobs with Gruden's offense, Tannehill with the Hulk in the backfield, us with Mostert and the Island of Misfit Toys, and Cousins with the Chef. Now, having the highest completion percentage doesn't necessarily mean they're the best QB (Jackson was #9, Mahomes was #11) but it is important.
Third of all, I would be willing to bet several burritos that Jimmy will not reach his 2019 completion percentage again in his career. His passing mechanics are regressing (or not improving, if you want to word it slightly less harshly) and his footwork especially is alarming, although you could indicate that he's not confident in his line, but it would also be slightly worrisome to say that he can't be trusted to make a mechanically sound pass if the line isn't perfect, so either way you look at it the mechanics are an issue. I'm willing to give him a pass on this until he at least gets a 2nd string Center back, though. It is frustrating though because he allegedly was improving in training camp, then we all saw the Cardinals game. Still, I'll give it a pass for now.
Lastly as it relates to this list, and I will yell it out for the people in the back: THE QB OF THE 49ERS UNDER KYLE SHANAHAN SHOULD BE AT THE TOP OF THIS LIST. Almost without compromise. This relates back to what a QB is asked to do here. Jimmy had some of the lowest "Average Intended Yards" of any QB in the league last season. I just thought that this thread by wafflehauss was pretty neat from Week 1 last season, because not much changed. To be clear, I'm not really ripping Jimmy here, I'm just trying to illustrate that we aren't pushing this guy to some unrealistic standards or anything. The starting QB job in SF is physically easier than most places, and there are a lot of advanced metrics that point to that. The completion percentage should always be nuts. With Jimmy's mechanical issues seemingly not improving, and the interior of our line not improving, his accuracy will continue to get worse and worse because he is not much of an improv guy and he definitely "feels" pressure. 3:10 here. His scrambling is... not natural and whether or not you want to blame that on his ACL that's fine, but regardless he resorts to completely fuckified tactics once the pocket gets a little dirty.
Other Options - Part 2 Continued: Now, lets look at Baker's most recent game and analyze some of the problems there. Highlight link. Timestamps:
2:20 – beautiful roll out and a laser to Landry with a great covered catch.
2:59 – despite him seeming to trip on the dropback, Baker - frequently shows off a nice touch pass that he has. This one is wide open and “easy”, but he does it a lot. He really has a great ability to “drop” the ball into the receivers hands, especially on out routes.
3:50 – this is a routine pass for him, and one that would be expected of him a lot on a team like ours. You could argue that there is some wasted movement in the dropback here, but I'd rather see a little waste than have him throw off the back foot whenever it isn’t necessary. He delivers the pass in stride. Don't misunderstand me here, this is not a remarkable throw or anything, I am merely pointing out that he performs the intricacies to success in our offense well.
3:59 – off balance, but manages to set and deliver a ball with higher velocity than Jimmy is capable of. Here's proof of that. Baker has a cannon. Jimmy is not bad in this category, but Baker is in the top tier. I was slightly impressed by this one.
5:44 – this is something I was gonna highlight further, but this is a great example of it. Baker has a great, stealthy handoff. This is something that helps sell your play action pass (which I'll get into in a second), but Chubb doesn’t even try to sell it and immediately puts his hands back up, but this isn’t something the secondary can see and therefore doesn’t matter too much as this isn’t a super long developing route. Baker shoots and throws a great pass into the small soft spot of the secondary near the numbers.
5:55 – cool touch here by Baker despite the foot placement, and Njoku makes a great catch. I can’t tell if Young got to him and forced him a couple feet away from his desired trajectory or not in the slight time we can’t see on camera. If not, Baker could’ve placed this a lot better.
6:12 – there is something wrong with Beckham to be dropping a crucial pass like this on 3rd down. He has even said himself that Baker’s velocity is an issue for him, but he didn’t even rocket this pass. 3 receptions for 10 targets in this game, I really hate the way they’re trying to force feed him. This is not an indictment against him specifically either as some of the passes Baker threw him were dogshit, I just don’t think he’s well used in this way for the Browns and these sorts of drops specifically aren’t Baker’s fault.
7:34 – this, though, is entirely Baker’s fault. Ball wobbles a bit and he stared down Beckham through the whole route and gets the ball smacked down by one of the best in the game. This is part of what I mean by "Baker and OBJ's toxic relationship". Baker was honestly better without OBJ's stardom and was much better at spreading the ball around when it was him, Landry, and some decent receivers all around.
8:26 – say what you want about this pass, but I liked that Baker thought “I can beat 36 right over his head”. I like throwing to your best receiver on 3rd and 7 WAY BETTER than checking down and getting 4 yards instead. His demeanor feeds into him making “gunslinger” (I know I hate it too) throws like this frequently.
8:38 – he does it again here. Yeah, the Ravens are up 25 but their starting secondary is still on the field here, which is one of the best in the league. I like the soft spot throws here, and his arm allows him to do it.
10:15 – he loads it up and misses Beckham here, should’ve been a score. I think all the purple scared him. A tiny display of his arm strength, though.
So, just a quick overview of that game. The Ravens are amazing and the Browns suck. This is known. I didn't watch the all-22, but I watched the game. Baker makes some pretty big mistakes and some pretty bad throws in it. I am willing to bet Shanahan could turn him into a star, though. Kevin Stefanski is... not in Kyle's stratosphere as a Head Coach or Playcaller, in my opinion. Now, one other thing I wanted to point out is Baker's massive strength in play action, as this site shows, Mayfield's passer rating was 36.8 points better on pass attempts involving play action. It continues with some neat numbers in reference to last season. “From Weeks 1-8, the Browns offense used play-action on only 26.6% of Mayfield’s dropbacks, which was 15th in the league. The Browns were 2-5 over the time period and struggled immensely on the offensive side of the ball. In contrast, from Weeks 9-12, the Browns offense has utilized play-action on 40.0% of Mayfield’s dropbacks, which is the most in the league, with a corresponding 3-1 record. Mayfield has posted the following statistics and ranks using the strategy:
44 completions on 60 attempts (most)
574 passing yards (most)
4 touchdowns (T-2nd)
15.2 completion percentage differential (8th)
125.3 passer rating (9th)
Compare that to the 60% of dropbacks where play-action was not deployed over the same time frame:
50 completions on 86 attempts (T-17th most)
457 passing yards (23rd)
4 touchdowns (T-8th)
83.3 passer rating (17th)”
So, what's my overall point here? I ultimately didn't want to answer my take on the future of this team at the QB position with "LeTs JuSt GeT LaWrEnCe LoL" or something overly-homerish about Jimmy. I tried to think of a more legitimate and realistic answer, with a scenario that involves Jimmy and two that don't. In conclusion, my point is this: I believe Baker Mayfield, at about 3.5 years younger than Jimmy G, could be his replacement, at a lower cost, for marginally to seriously improved production from the QB position on this team. I still believe Mayfield has star potential. I do not believe Jimmy does. I understand that many fans on /nfl and /browns believe he's a total bust, but I do not. He is nowhere near perfect, but I legitimately think he could be plugged into this exact offense (with a down year, just like Jimmy and Matt had) with more success than Jimmy will provide. Shanahan will be his new Lincoln Riley and revive him to great heights. I think the Niners should acquire him and cut bait on Jimmy if the opportunity were to present itself because the Browns decided that "Lose for Lawrence" is the better option than Mayfield.
I think Baker has a better arm than Jimmy.
I think Baker is smart enough to figure our offense out.
I think Baker can make the short and intermediate throws required more consistently than Jimmy.
I think Baker can perform even better than Jimmy in our already extremely prominent overall usage of the play action pass.
I think Baker can scramble a bit more naturally than Jimmy in a wonky pocket.
I think Baker is more capable of big plays that break the game open.
I think Baker can provide the moxie on offense that this team doesn't have when Deebo or Kittle aren't on the field (but regardless, having it come from your defacto leader is invaluable).
I think the 49ers could win a Super Bowl BECAUSE of Baker Mayfield, not in spite of him.
Now, you may downvote, but I hope instead you contribute with something substantial. Thank you for your time. Edit: Spelling mistakes.
CORRECTION: 1.16.3 Introduction Welcome to Chertia! Chertia is a semi-vanilla survival server set in a land of gods, magic and monsters known as the Kingdom of Chertia. This server is heavily inspired by Mianite, but has evolved over time. We've created our own identity with completely new characters and an ongoing story that everyone is able to contribute to in some way or another. Throughout your adventures on Chertia, you will encounter and interact with gods. Regular (usually 2-4 times weekly) events ranging from fun games to perilous adventures will keep you engaged with the server in a unique way. We have a bunch of really cool custom-coded features, including an update that adds custom, procedurally-generated dungeons that we have releasing tomorrow. The server is on normal difficulty and is hosted in Montréal, Québec. It runs on PaperMC. Subreddit:theworldofchertia Season 2 began on Friday, July 24. The Story You are thrown into the mysterious world of Ahiro, in the Kingdom of Chertia. More specifically, the province of Hyacinth, which spans the entire server map, corner to corner. The kingdom is inhabited by sibling gods who interact with you and help or hinder your ability to survive in this strange world. What brought you here? What is the purpose of your adventure? The sibling gods are:
Lady Chertia, goddess of kindness
Lord Syenite, god of chaos
There are some other characters that you may come across as well. For example:
Luna Aisling, queen of Chertia
Lady Claudine, goddess of change
Chancellor Robin, the queen's right hand & leader of the government
Additionally, each player has their own player character. If you want to start making your own player character, clickhereto view the guidelines and template. The full list of player & story characters is here. Server Events While the schedule shifts from week to week, the following is the norm at the moment:
Every Friday night, we host a major story event where some of the characters will be on the server, interacting with the players and advancing the server's storyline.
On most Saturdays or Sundays, we host Roleplay events where players have the opportunity to get into character and roleplay their hearts out, creating their own stories and fun moments that make Chertia special.
Other days, you might have the chance to run into a god - they'll log on whenever they feel like it and start interacting. Be prepared at all times!
We usually try to host 2-4 events per week, including game nights & pvp events!
The Server Chertia is mainly a semi-vanilla survival server. While we do have plenty of custom features, items and enchantments, these are entirely optional and can be ignored if you wish for a more traditional 'vanilla survival' experience. There are some commands that might be useful to know as you begin your adventure on Chertia. For a list of most available commands, view the page here. While Chertia is not an explicit roleplay server, there is often roleplay going on! We like to distinguish this with a dedicated roleplay mode, where each player can identify themselves as roleplaying (or wanting to roleplay) in the tablist and switch to a special 'roleplay name'. Server Rules Please keep these in mind as you begin your adventure.

2020.09.15 21:20 ManuelBenSlimanI'm West European and I love you guys!
Hey there guys! So, you probably won't even care, but I really feel like I should clean the airs a bit as I see a lot of anti-European sentiment rising here. You see, a lot of us West Europeans actually love you, and it kinda bothers me when I see some double standards coming from your end. I hate it when we are full of double standards too, and I equally criticise them. So today, I'd like to share with you my views about Turkey, the reason why I love you guys, my hopes for us, but also my criticisms. I will touch on some topics that some of you might find sensitive (Cyprus, Armenian issue, sea disputes with Greece, LGBT rights, racism, Ottoman Empire's legacy, Atatürk, secularism vs islamism, Kurdish issues, etc...).After all, I'm not some Karma whore, I'm here to give my perspective, which may in certain issues cause disagreements between us.I fully accept it if you guys wish to discuss ideas or just tell me that you disagree. I'll also share some personal aspects about me so that you may better undestand why I hold some of the views you will see, after all, my private characteristics shape my point of view a lot. First of, I'm highly secular, socially liberal but very VERY patriotic, I am gay, I'm a Zionist (I believe in Israel's existence and its right to defend itself) I am an immigrant (born in Portugal but living in Germany) and I am strongly pro-European (as in, I dream that all EU nations will grow closer and develop further together). Now you know a bit about me and hopefully it may help you understand why I have the perspective I do. So let's begin shall we?
Sea disputes with Greece:- I actually support you guy on this one! When I look at the map of TUrkey and see its EEZ it makes absolutely no sense!Turkey has a large coastline and a long history in the Eastern Mediterranean. This entire section of the sea was basically ruled by Turkey. Why oh why is it then that Turkey'S EEZ is basically a joke?!I don't like Erdogan at all, but I recognise that any political leader would be right to demand an EEZ expansion under these circumstances. Now which areas will belong to Turkey and such is up to debate, but that it needs to be way larger than now is honestly quite obvious. Also, while I'm at it, Turkey should really look at expanding its land.. I'm not saying for you guys to go around invading countries and such, but let's face it, Turkey was forced to lose way more land than it needed only because the winners of the war wanted to humiliate Turkey.I believe that a part of the Raqqa Governorate (currently a part of Syria) should be given back to Turkey because it is the original location of the tomb of Suleyman Shah.So in this case, nothing negative to say.
- This is one more issue that I can't really criticise, Atatürk had his flaws of course, but the truth is that for his time, he was waaaay ahead most world leaders. His ideals were perfect for the time they were put in practice, and some of them are still desperately needed today, not just in Turkey, but in the whole world!I trully believe that we in Europe have a lot to learn from Atatürk's ideas. His kindness even towards former enemies (all the soldiers who died in Turkey were now also "Sons of Turkey" in his words. His secular principles to keep barbaric religious beliefs away from government and society, his strong stance on national unity, patriotism and equality are inspiring to this day. When people look at certain Kemalist policies (or policies that are simply tied to Kemalism but not exactly supported by all Kemalists), they forgot that some of the more criticised policies were important for their time. There is one piece of policy that I can criticise, but also emphathise with, the language and names policy. Basically this law outlawed any name that was not in Turkish, and that identified ones' ethnic origin. This law also made Turkish the only language of instruction (with exception of the ones covered by previous international agreements). This has been consistently preserved by many Kemalist governments, and now also by islamist ones. People forget however, that this law was needed for its time.Back then many separatist movements were riling Turkey up, Armenian terror groups being the most prevalent had managed to commit attacks against both Turkish soldiers and civilians, death and fear were realities in Eastern Anatolia, where Turkish peasants were scared of being killed off or expelled from their homes by Armenian millitants, and sadly radical Turkish groups as revenge also targeted any innocent Armenian, causing instability in the region, and leading many Armenians and Turks alike to suffer the effects of often foreign-sponsored seperatist terrorism. This law was created with an aim of assimilating every group into the Turkish nation, destroying any kind of "un-Turkish" link, so that one would be loyal only to the country and forget about any kind of nationalist dreams that involved carving Turkey up. One also needs to take into consideration that this was happening on the back of many years of anti-Turkish sentiments amongst the Turkish elites, who for years venerated Arab and Persian culture at the expense of native Turks, with the real Turkish language being replaced by an Arabo-Persianised version of it and local Turkish customs being seen as primitive for many centuries by the Ottomans. Turkey was now finally proud of itself! This sense of pride had to spread quickly, otherwise the new Republic could collapse at any moment thanks to either foreign intervention, seperatist movements, or islamist group. So I can't judge laws for the time that they were created as they were needed.I also need to point out that even today, in France, only French can be used as a language of instruction, no matter in which region, even though many other languages (ex.: Basque, Breton, Dutch, etc...) are also spoken in the country by indigenous minorities. I wanna make this clear, I oppose these laws by now (with certain conditions). They don't make sense in a modern country like Turkey.I think the German model here could be followed.Germany only has one official national language, but different parts of Germany can have additional languages which people have the right to learn as their mother tongue (only in those regions where they are native too), however likewise, they must also study German as a mother tongue. They learn both their own language (Danish is the best example here) and the national language (German) as a first language, granting them fluency in both with no issues. I think anyone born in a traditionally exclusively Turkish area (let's say Ankara) should only be allowed to register with Turkish names (family names can be of course non-Turkish if the parents come from other areas or such) while those born in areas with an indigenous minority (let's say Diyarbakir) can choose between registring with a Turkish or Kurdish name. These are merely my views.
Racism, the Armenian, Kurdish and whatnot issue...
This is gonna touch a lot of nerves possibly, but as I said, I am not a karma whore and I think this needs to be discussed. This touches on more than just the Armenian/Aramaic Genocide. This needs to touch on the topic of nationalism, racism and identity. I do not mean to offend any of you, but this must be said.I strongly believe there was a genocide against Armenians. So many people dying or being forced out of their homes could not have happened without state interference or without the hand of some powerful individuals. I am pretty sure that a lot of Armenians were involved in terror activities, that's no secret to anyone, as I mentioned on a previous point, Armenian groups did attack many Turks in Eastern Anatolia and so on, and have consistently been a threat to the unity of Turkey and its territorial integrity. However this does not justify the misstreatment of many innocent lives, it does not justify torturing, expelling and killing those who were not involved. Rather than a trial for individuals and groups that were guilty, a decision to just expell or kill most Armenians was taken, a decision that changed many lives for the worst. The thing that hurts on this topic is that so many of you just seem to mock it. I am tired of posts, memes and whatnot posted here mocking victims of this attrocitiy, because even if you don't agree with the word genocide, you all recognise something bad happened, something horrible, you even learn about it at school. But when time comes to remember the victims you decide to mock them. I find it disgusting. This does not mean we are failing too by the way. Turkey should demand that we recognise the genocide of Turks in the ex-Ottoman lands. After all, how many Turks were forcibly expelled from their lands, tortured or killed? Many! Instead of fighting and mocking the Armenian genocide, how about you start doing a better PR and have us recognise your own? I know almost nothing of what happened to Turks post-Ottoman period, seriously, this information is so hard to come by! The Kurdish issue.... Well. Kurds aren't going through any genocide, more like a cultural discrimination, also.. I'm against the indepence of Turkish Kurdistan due to selfish reasons I must admit, though I support the indepence of Syrian/Iraqi/Iranian Kurdistan. The thing is, I don't trust an independent Kuridstan carved out of Turkey to be progressive. What people forget is, that even though Erdogan is in power, Turkey still has gay rights, gender equality and secularism. No, the situation in Turkey is not perfect, but it's way better than any country in the Caucasus or the Middle East, and even better than some "fully" European countries (I consider Turkey to be European, Middle Eastern and Caucasus country, it clearly straddles all these regions). The thing is, and this I will compare to the Israeli-Palestinian issue for better comparison, we forget that Kurds are conservative and more religious than Turks (usually). Some Kurds even vote for Erdogan due to their love of his islamist agenda! Most honour killings in Turkey happen in the Kurdish community. The first famous (well infamous) honour killing here in Germany that exploded on the news was done by a Kurdish-Turkish family. I oppose some of your arguments against Kurdish independence, you can't honestly say that Kurds have no right to their own land in territories where they've been living for centuries and been the majority for an equally large amount of time. But I will keep opposing it, because an independent Turkish Kurdistan will just be an islamist hell hole trying to pass of as progressive. Is the Iraqi Kurdistan region a paradise? NO! It's full of honour killings, tribal violence, speaking in favour of gay rights can get you killed, women are still subjugated to men, etc... But yeah, they show us strong Peshmerga women on TV so all is fine right? Keep in mind that Iraqi Kurdistan is highly autonomous. Their social policies are their own, their islamist tendencies can't be blamed on the central Iraqi government. Let's however not pretend racism is not an issue! A lot of racist people sadly still exist in Turkey, people who can't stand Kurds, Jews, Armenians and whatever.. People who will attack someone for speaking a different language. Please don't turn a blind eye on this, speak out against it! Now I will pick a bone with the HDP, a party made up of people who support PKK and yet pretend they do love Turkey! The HDP acts progressive, speaking for gay rights and equality in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara. In Kurdistan you just get silence! I can assure you, that the HDP doesn't give a shit about gay people like me. They speak for our rights when they are in the big metropolitan areas, where gay rights are already discussed and supported by significant segments of the population. But in Kurdistan, where the discussion is really needed, they shut up, even though most anti-gay killings and abuses are committed by people originating there. Gay rights are very important to me. It's a huge part of who I am, something that I can't take off. I love my sexuality, and am proud of it, as so should all people. Be proud of yourselves! Gay, straight or bi you are awesome as you are! I am tired of looking at how countries and regions across the globe get away with commiting genocide on my people. Killing gay people is a law in so many countries, and we are silent on that. In others, we "just" get jailed or tortured! I say fuck those countries and their uncivilised nature! And if you tell me Kurdistan won't be like that, than you are kidding me! Gay people in Turkish Kurdistan need Turkish law to protect them from OTHER KURDS, who want to kill them! This is the same as in the Israeli-Arab conflict. I studied that case! I know how Jordan and the Palestinians killed as many Jews as they could when they took over the West Bank and Jerusalem, let's not forget how they destroyed synagogues in the city and limited religious practises for christians! They speak of peace and tolerance, but jail apostates, oppress gay people and promote islamic supremacy. Yet Israel granted citizenship to all Arabs that stayed within its borders after the war and to this day allows Jordan to control the Al-Aqsa mosque, despite the whole area being sacred to Jews as well. Islamic supremacy and Palestinian nationalism walk hand in hand, Erdogan of course supports them so much because he is more popular in hell holes like Pakistan, Yemen and so on than he is in Turkey itself! Turkish people want a leader who thinks of their needs, not someone who bows down to the Umah or whatever. Staying on gay rights, Turkey is not paradise, but let's admit it. You guys have a gay rights movement, one that is more advanced than the in some fully European countries by the way! Gay rights activists in Turkey are fighting for marriage equality for example. This shows how progressive you guys are! A lot of gay rights activists start by fighting for "minor rights" like anti-discrimination laws, better training for law enforcment agencies, etc.. Gay rights activists in Turkey are fighting for the whole deal! Which shows just how comfortable the movement is to have such an open fight! That's the real Turkey, not a government of radicals that bans gay characters from Netflix or shames young people for partying in New Year and drinking! I'd also like to point out that the gay rights movement in Turkey is local! It's not like so many other gay rights movements that only survives thanks to foreign funding, the one in Turkey trully survives because Turkey is progressing! This movement is possible thanks to you!
This one is quick actually. The Ottoman Empire is something Turks should be proud and critical of! We all built Empires, some more cruel than others, some more glorious, some more long-lived. But we've all conquered, invaded, been invaded, and shed the blood of others. As someone who grew up in Portugal, where we take pride in our Empirial period, I am not ashamed of the attrocities that other people committed, I am NOT responsiblle! I do feel bad for them, and I recognise them! What more can I do? It's not my fault! I am critical of slavery, horrified that it existed, but once again, not my fault. My obligation, as everyone else's, is to recognise something bad happened, not forget it, honour the ones who suffered, and that's it. I can still however feel proud for my people's discoveries while being critical of some "issues". The same way Turks should think of the Ottomans. The Ottoman Empire was also a dark time for Turks once in a while. People seem to forget that the elites were obsessed with copying the Arabs and Persians (just like Erdogan) and disregarded the Turks who still.. well... behaved like Turks! However don't forget, your Empire brought many great European leaders to their knees, you welcomed Jews when they were being killed, you developed beautiful musical traditions and poetry. You guys did so much, never forget that too. The glories of the Ottoman period belong to you, be proud of them. NOW THEN... Time to explain also what I don't like of the Turkish DIASPORA! I don't mean to offend, and we also have many well integrated awesome Turks here btw. But I noticed I tend to like the Turks raised in Turkey, and get along with them well, but I can't (usually) stand the ones raised here in Germany! Never have I met such entitled brats! Btw, not just Turks, but anyone from a more "Middle-Easty" background, even Balkans, behave like such entitled pieces of shit here! These are people who often dress up like gangsters, act like wannabe-gangsters, they constantly incorporate Arabic words into their vocabulary.. have a way of speaking that is just.. urgh! Like, they sound like assholes, I don't know how to explain it ok? They go around getting moeny from Jobcenter and don't want to work. They'll get like 500 Euros from welfare and spend 450 on a jacket (not kidding, saw many do that) because mommy and daddy pay for the food and rent and these pricks do nothing. Then, I am angry that many Turks (even those born there) vote for Erdogan BUT vote socialist and liberal here! They want freedom, equality and such here, but deny it to their brothers and sisters back in Turkey. They buy the best cars with money they made HERE, thanks to an economic and also social system that works. But vote for corrupt and nepotists politicians like Erdogan because they act nationalist, when in reality they just kiss Arab ass! Then they visit Turkey, with those expensive cars and clothes to show off, but refuse to participate in the building of Turkey. They are patriotic only in words, because while they talk shit about Germany and praise Erdogan's Turkey, they'd rather be here, show off the wealth they make thanks to this system to those ones stuck there, and keep voting the people who suck off Turkey's wealth into power. Let's also not forget how Erdogan instructed Turks in Germany to not vote for certain parties.. Like wtf?! Our politicians insult him, but even they are discreet enough to not say such outrageous thing out in public. He crossed many lines and made us doubt on the loyalty that Turks here have for this country! I just want you to understand why you often have a bad rep here. It's hard to think of Turks positively, when the generation born here, the ones that claims to be the most nationalistic Turkish one, acts like spoiled wannabe-gangsters, sucking off welfare for their drug use and gambling, showing off clothes that they bought only cause they don't pay rent, acting super entitled and superior to everyone else etc... Heck! I have Turkish gay friends here in Germany, who came study here, but can't be openly gay in Germany, 'cause their relatives here are super islamist and would just "report" them to their parents if they found out. Seriously! Sadly good Turks here have to face prejudice both ways. One from the Arabised gangster-wannabe Turks who act like jerks to them and call them "traitors" and the other from an unkind German society that often distrusts or outright misstreats them (example: one of my mentioned gay friends here, got attacked in Bonn, for talking Turkish on his phone when calling his mum in Izmir). Why I love you guys though? You have beautiful music! Turkish music is my favourite! Your food is delicious, your architecture enchanting, your people are strong and determined! You don't let others decide your fate, you protested agaisnt Erdogan in large numbers, you stood up for gender equality, gay rights and secularism on your own! You refused to be Arabised and still do. You refuse to let religion determine your country's future, you refuse to bow down to both political correctness and islamism! I believe you have much to learn from Western Europe, but we also have so much to learn from you! I hope to see Turkey getting closer to us, once Erdogan and our own incompetent politicians are gone, hopefully a new wave of competent and actual hard-working people will come into power, and they will see our destinies are connected! Turkey is a civilised nation, whose place is in the EU, to build a stronger and better future for ourselves together. However this closeness will only happen when we both decide so. It will happen when Erdogan and our own incompetent politicians (looking at you Merkel <.<) get out. It will happen when we stop being fed anti-Turkish propaganda and when you're also no longer fed anti-Western one! Seriously, one of Merkel's main talking points last elections was that she had always refused the idea of letting Turkey into the EU, while the SPD supported it. Why should we be against it? Once Turkey gets a decent government we should seize the opportunity and speed up the process! Germany wasn't always perfect but we gave it a chance as a leading nation in the world. Why do so many people here associate Turkey exclusively with idiots like Erdogan is beyond me! Merkel should understand that supporting Turkey's accession into the EU doesn't mean it will happen, untill conditions are met. While she keeps opposing it completely, even if the conditions are met. That's the anti-Turkey propaganda we get here. The real Turkey is the one where students, workers, secularists, gays, women, men, alevi, sunni, shia, jews, kurds, and so on protest together. It's the one that hosted the largest pride parade in Southeastern Europe. It's the one where secularism and common sense prevail. Not the one of islamsits, arabists, fear-mongers and hate-preachers. Likewise the real Europe belongs to philosophers, to free-thinkers, to social movements and those who struggle. It belongs to common people like me. Not to the politically correct crowd or a group of old hags in parliament who can barely get anything done. I love you guys, let's work together, not against each other! Sorry for the long rant x.x
